    William Pennings, a ge 80, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday after a brief illness. He was bor n, July 16th, 1890 in Phlox, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Holy Na me Society of St. John Catholic church. Helen married Harvey Kobussen on July 21, 1936, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kaukauna, and he preceded her in death on September 29, 1979. They were married for 43 years. Helen then married Claire Dutkievic on October 23, 1989, in Appleton, and he has also preceded her in death. Helen was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks.
    Helen is survived by her sister, Evelyn Schmidt of Sherwood; her brother, Clarence Pennings of Little Chute; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Helen was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ellen Marie; two sons: James and Eugene Kobussen; her parents; siblings: Marie Pennings, Beatrice (Giles) Watry, Alvin (Betty) (Donna) Pennings, Lila (Norbert) Delrow; brother-in-law, Julius Schmidt; and a sister-in-law, Eunice Pennings.

    Beatrice E. Watry, Little Chute, age 91, passed peacefully away surrounded by her family on Monday March 17, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born in Phlox, Wisconsin, on February 5, 1917, to the late William and Bertha (Knorr) Pennings. On June 29, 1940, Beatrice married Giles Watry at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute where she was a lifelong member. Together, they ran Watry's Bar. He preceded her in death on November 22, 1982. Beatrice loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting, camping, shopping, fish fries, and dancing. With her personal touch, family celebrations and holidays were made special.
    Beatrice is survived by five children: Carol Van Der Burgt, Kaukauna; Geraldine (Donald) De Goey, Kimberly; Richard (Deborah) Watry, Appleton; Linda (David) Hietpas, Little Chute; and Judith Watry, Little Chute; 12 grandchildren: Martin (Beth) Van Der Burgt, Jeffrey (Belinda) and David (Michele) De Goey, Deborah (Christopher) Jansen, Erica (Greg) Smedema, Amanda (Phil) Netzel, Bethany Watry (fiance Chad Bobb), Peter and William Watry, Craig (Jessica), Chris (Stacy) and Curt (Missy) Hietpas; 13 great grandchildren: Philip, Luke, Erin, William, Caroline, Ella, Noah, Mary, Mikayla, Conner, Derek, Emily and Morgan; and sisters and brother: Helen (Duke) Dutkievic, Evelyn Schmidt, Lila Delrow, and Clarence Pennings . She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Clarence A. "Sonny" "Mac" Pennings, Combined Locks, age 98, died Friday, February 17, 2017 at Care Partners Assisted Living. He was born in Phlox, WI on October 17, 1918 to the late William and Bertha (Knorr) Pennings. He moved from Antigo to attend vocational school in Kaukauna, where he learned to become a tinsmith. Sonny married Eunice Van Dalen on July 27, 1937 at St. Paul Parish. A World War IIveteran, Clarence served in the Army with the Horse Calvary and was a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 for over 70 years. Sonny worked at the Combined Locks Mill from 1941 until his retirement in 1978.
    Clarence loved to hunt and fish, especially musky at Big Sand Lake and mule deer out west. He was a tinkerer that could fix anything, usually making it better than before it was broken. Sonny also enjoyed a good game of Sheephead.
    Sonny is survived by his children: Gerald (Grace) of Peshtigo; Charles (Barbara) of Hilbert; Joan (James) Verstegen of Little Chute; and Christy Pennings of Kaukauna; son-in-law: Gary (Bernie) Kuborn; grandchildren: Mark Pennings, Rebecca (Craig) Strutz, Luke (Judy) Pennings, Matt Pennings, John (Jill) Pennings, Carrie (Doug) Hietpas, Jamie (Kristin) Verstegen, Ryan (Betsy) Pennings and Joseph (Nancy) Kuborn; great grandchildren: Amanda, Carly, Joshua, Kristie, Callie, Christopher, Casey, Samantha, Garret, Nathanial, Grant, Eloise, Ryder, MiKayla, MiKenzie, Adam, Andrew and Abbey; and great great grandchildren: Levi and Adrian. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice; their daughter, Shirley Kuborn; granddaughter, Abbey Kuborn; great grandson: Corey Strutz ; and father and mother-in-law, William and Catherine Van Dalen. He was also preceded in death by his siblings and Eunice's siblings.
    Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace St. Combined Locks) beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev.     Evelyn Schmidt, age 96, of Sherwood, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at St. Paul Home. Evelyn was born April 17, 1920 in Phlox, Wisconsin to the late William & Bertha (Knorr) Pennings. She married Julius Schmidt on November 23, 1944 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute. Julius preceded her in death on May 8, 1999 after 54 ½ years of marriage. Evelyn and Julius made their home in Sherwood and belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church since 1944. She managed Fort Hopkins Restaurant in Appleton and retired from the Kaukauna School District in Sherwood in 1981. Evelyn was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 0496 in Sherwood for 58 years. She enjoyed going out to eat with her family, especially with the great-grandchildren. Evelyn enjoyed many wonderful times with her husband, family and friends at their cottage, especially the excitement of getting everything ready for the deer hunters.
    Evelyn is survived by her daughter and son in law, Adele (Gerald) Stein, Little Chute; a grandson, Dan (Jean) Stein, Sherwood; and great grandchildren; Christopher, Hannah, and Collin Stein, Sherwood. She is also survived by a brother, Clarence Pennings, Little Chute; brother in law, Florian (Donna) Schmidt, Sherwood; sister's in law, Madella Jacob, Menasha; Lorraine (Sandy) Rehfeldt, Appleton; Agnes (Schmidt) Smarzinski, Appleton; Jackie Schmidt, Neenah; and many nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to her parents and her husband Julius, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother, Alvin (Betty) (Donna) Pennings; her sisters, Marie Pennings, Beatrice (Giles) Watry, Lila (Norbert) Delrow, Helen (Harvey) Kobussen, Claire Dutkievic, and a sister in law, Eunice Pennings. She was also preceded in death by her husband's family; sister in law, Marian (Arthur) Schmidt, and brother's in law, George (Vita) Schmidt, Leander Schmidt, Joe Smarzinski, Paul Schmidt, Steve Jacob and her mother and father in law, Julius and Katherine (Foertsch) Schmidt.
    Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at the St. Paul Home Chapel, 316 E. 14th St., Kaukauna. Friends may call at the chapel from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services.
    The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to Dr. Brian Scott and his staff, all the employees at St. Paul Elder and Hospice Services and the Villa. To everyone that came in contact with mother's care, you are the most wonderful care giving people we have known. Your care is more than excellent.

    Clarence A. Pennings, age 89, passed away Friday morning, April 22, 2011. He was born May 6, 1921, to the late Albert and Gertrude (Diedrick) Pennings. On September 18, 1948, he was united in marriage to Ruth Lietz. After 62 years of marriage she preceded him in death on December 17, 2010.
    Clarence and Ruth owned and operated Pennings Supper Club at Twelve Corners from 1957 until their retirement in 1979. Clarence was employed for many years at Calnin & Goss Company in Appleton. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Center. Clarence was an Army Air Force WWII Veteran and a member of the Appleton VFW.
    Survivors include his children: Patricia Riehl, Black Creek; Cindy (Tom) Baer, Lakewood; Mike (Mary) Pennings, Clearwater, Florida; Steve (Shawn) Pennings, Black Creek; granddaughters: Jodi (Paul) Mathe, Kerri (Steve) Tuma, Sarah Riehl, Jessica (Shane) Wallenfang, Amanda and Marissa Pennings; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Don (Gerry) Pennings, Appleton; sister-in-law Jane Pennings, Appleton.
    He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Wes Riehl; great-granddaughter Katelyn; and a brother Marvin.

    Marvin W. Pennings, age 79, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010. He was born on April 8, 1931 in Freedom, WI to the late Albert and Gertrude (Diedrich) Pennings. Marv attended St. Nicholas Grade School and Freedom High School. He married Jane Heimerl on June 15, 1955 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Greenleaf, WI. Marv was a farmer, working on his farms in Freedom and later in Appleton. He also worked for Meyer Services and then for the Town of Grand Chute, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed making wood working items for his family, spending time with Jane and his family at their cottage in Lakewood and also the times spent there with friends trout fishing and hunting. Marv was past President of the Outagamie 4-H Leaders Association and served as a leader of the B-Square 4-H Club. He was a volunteer for the Grand Chute Fire Dept. for 10 years and was an usher at St. Pius X Catholic Church.     Mildred H. (Pennings) Jansen, 89, Little Chute, passed away on Friday, the 10th of December, 2010. She was born Oct. 28, 1921, the daughter of the late Arthur and Rose (Hermsen) Pennings. Millie graduated from St. John High School in 1939. She married Robert J. Jansen on May 1, 1943, in Santa Rosa, Calif., where he was stationed for a tour of duty during World War II.
    Millie was employed at various places and retired from Jack's Pizza. She was a lifetime member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute, and was a real "prayer warrior", considering it her purpose in life, praying every day for each person in need. Millie also had been a member the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258 Ladies Auxiliary, Fox Valley Golf Club, various bowling leagues, Girl Scout leader, Den mother and a parent volunteer for school activities.
    Millie loved spending time with family, shaking dice, playing cards, going up north to the cottages, watching the Packers and listening to the Brewers games on the radio.

    Ethel A. Niesz, Little Chute, age 91, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born in Little Chute on March 1, 1923 to the late Arthur and Rose (Hermsen) Pennings. Ethel married Jacob Niesz on September 17, 1949 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on February 18, 1972.
    Ethel retired from Little Chute Pharmacy. She was a member of Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258 Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She loved spending time with her family, knitting her famous baby sweaters, playing cards, baking, listening to Daniel O'Donnell, and faithfully praying her rosary.

    Little Chute - Rosemary A. Pennings, age 93, formerly of Little Chute, passed away March 22, 2018, at St. Paul Elder Services. She was born in Little Chute on February 8, 1925, daughter of the late Arthur and Rose (Hermsen) Pennings. She was a lifelong member of St. John Parish.
    Rosemary graduated from St. John High School in 1943 and immediately began her 12 year career with Eagle Mfg. She spent the following 30+ years in the paper industry for Pennsart Chemical Corp., J.M. Huber Corp. and retired from International Paper in June of 1986.
    Rosemary was like a second mom to all of her siblings' families and was the person everyone relied on. She was always there to help in good times and in bad. She enjoyed her Sunday get-togethers with her sisters as they cheered on the Packers, always hoping she would win the pool. After the death of her parents, she carried on the annual Christmas party for 46 years. She was the "glue" that kept the family together and because of her, we are a very close knit family.

    Margaret A Zornow passed into eternal life on January 13, 2014 surrounded by her family, following a short stay at the American Grand Assisted Living facility. She was born January 30, 1927 to the late Arthur and Rose (Hermsen) Pennings. On December 2, 1950 she married the late William F. Zornow at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, who preceded her in death on January 9, 1999 after 49 years of marriage.
    Margaret had a strong regard for her family, nurturing her seven children as well as a strong spiritual life. She was lifelong member of St. John's Church and sang in the Resurrection Choir until her illness limited her singing abilities. She found great pleasure in spending time each and every Sunday afternoon with her sisters gathering at the family homestead for lunch. Margaret loved dancing with her husband, singing in church, bowling and playing cards.

    Loretta K. Kinder, 98, passed away Thursday, July 20, at Thedacare Regional Medical Center in Appleton. She was born to Arnold and Blanche (Pennings) Strick on June 23, 1919 in Little Chute, Wisconsin.
    Loretta married Paul E. Kinder on February 15, 1941. They lived in Little Chute until 1955 when they built and moved to a new house in Kimberly. They resided there the remainder of their married life until his death January 1, 2001.
    Loretta was content being a homemaker most of her life, as well as working part-time for Zwickers in Appleton for many years. She was well known for her lifelong hobby of knitting baby booties and slippers for people.
    Surviving family members include a daughter Kathleen (Ronald) Kusta of Kaukauna, and a son Jim (Janie) of Neenah, along with Janie's two children Jason and Jennifer Evers, and her grandchild Macie Jane.
    Also surviving are two brothers, Paul (Arsella) Strick of Little Chute, and Robert (Char Darllng) of Menasha, a sister-in-law Lois Strick of Kimberly, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
    Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband, were one sister Marie (Roger) Thiel, and two brothers Bill (Doris) Strick, and Earl Strick.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 24, in the Schmidt Chapel at St. Paul Elder Services, 316 E. 14th St, Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm with service to follow at 4:00.

    Marie J. Thiel, age 92, passed away gracefully and into the hands of God on Thursday November 15, 2012. She was born in Little Chute on September 21, 1920. Marie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Roger H. Thiel on May 4, 1946 who went to eternal life on May 8, 2003. She graduated from St. John's High School in Little Chute and was active in sports and cheerleading. Before Marie took on the enormous responsibility of raising a family of five, she worked as a secretary at Sears Roebuck & Co. and then at Pechman Photo Printing Lab where she colored black and white photos before colored film was made.
    Marie and Roger enjoyed taking the kids on memory filled camping trips all over the country, first with a camper trailer, and then by motor home. Her joy was being with her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren, babysitting was always something she looked forward to. After many years of camping her dream of building a beautiful cottage on Legend Lake came true. She enjoyed rides on their pontoon boat and watching the gorgeous sunsets on the lake. She loved to cook and bake, always preparing plenty of food for the family. She enjoyed baking and made the world's best apple pies. Marie also had a love for music, especially Big Band and Country music, always dancing the night away with Roger. They were always the first ones on the dance floor and the last ones to leave. Mom's unending devotion to helping her children in any way she could, at any time, will not be forgotten.
    Marie is survived by her five children: Gary Thiel, Hawaii and children Monica (Jimmy) Ryan, Eric (Chandi) Thiel; Jeff (Susan) Thiel, Florida and child Brad (Sheila) Thiel; Tom (Carol) Thiel, North Freedom and children Carly, Ryan and Dana; Randy (Jean) Thiel, Kimberly and child Nick; Pam (Randy) Wyngard, Greenville and children Devin and Taylor; and seven great grandchildren; Melissa, Ashley, Emily, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Samantha and Blake; her brothers; Paul (Arsella) Strick, Earl(Lois) Strick, Bob Strick and sister; Loretta Kinder.

    Little Chute - Paul J. "Beeler" Strick, age 92, died Monday, December 25, 2017. He was born in Little Chute on June 1, 1925 to the late Arnold and Blanche (Pennings) Strick. Paul served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258. He married Arsella Schmalz at Holy Cross Parish in Kaukauna on April 10, 1947 and celebrated 70 years of marriage. Beeler retired from Combined Locks Paper Mill in 1987 and spent many years in Las Vegas, where he was better known as Paul, dropping his long standing nickname. He enjoyed the time there with his many friends. Time best spent with was with his family. He spent lots of time watching his grandchildren participate in pageants, plays, academic and sporting events. Grandpa was their biggest fan.
    Paul is survived by his wife of 70 years, Arsella; children: Bruce Strick of Little Chute; Linda (Steve) Blom of Little Chute; Dave (Barb) Strick of De Pere; and Karen (Dan) Keyzers of Little Chute; grandchildren: Jessica (Cole) Thompson, Kevin and Dylan Blom, Jade, Taylor and Jordan Strick, Tanner, Max and Tess Keyzers; great grandchildren: Jase, Finn and Gus Thompson and Elaina Fuller; brother: Robert (Char Darling) Strick; and sister-in-law: Lois Strick. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Earl "Nip" Rudolph Strick, 88 years, born to eternal life April 5, 2017 at Thedacare Regional Hospital - Neenah surrounded in the comfort of his loved ones. He was born on January 23, 1929 at the family home in Little Chute to his parents Arnold and Blanche (Pennings) Strick. Young Earl pulled the ropes of the ferry to cross the river between Little Chute and Kimberly, to get workers to and from the Mill. He was a graduate of St. john High School, Class of 1946. He spent his career at Kimberly-Clark Paper Mill starting as an apprentice, taking on-the-job training to become a millwright and proudly retiring in 1984. On June 11, 1949 he married the love of his life Lois Jean (Bastian) Strick at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute.
    Earl was a believer in making his Kimberly community around him better by volunteering as a Fireman for 30+ years, sitting on the water commission, and being involved in his condo association. His personal talents were shown in his ability to craft with wood. He could rough finish a closet, cane a seat of a glider rocker, refinish old furniture, building a pool table from scratch or a cradle for his beloved grandchildren. He was most proud of his decades of donating blood to the Blood Center, donating beyond 50 gallons over the years. His community recognized his dedication by presenting him with the inaugural Marie Rice Citizenship Award.
    The Green Bay Packers were an integral part of Earl's life. He inherited tickets from his father-in-law for the new "City Field" games and attended the home games each gameday until his late 80's. He shared the tickets with family and friends many times. He and his wife Lois enjoyed dancing, bowling, snow-bird travel to Las Vegas, or having quality family time at the cottage at Shawno Lake. Earl looked forward to seeing his grandchildren at a variety of school activities.
    Earl will be missed by his wife of 67 years, Lois (Bastian) Strick, children Carol (Bruce) Court, Daniel (Carole) Strick, and Susan (Bill) Van Hoorn, grandchildren Patricia (Doyle) rice, Nicholas (Heather Buckholdt) Court, John (Teri) Runions, Susan Runions, William (fiancé Kelsey Wettach) Van Hoorn, and Molly (Richard) Gaffney, many great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter, siblings Loretta Kinder, Paul (Arsella) Strick, Bob (Char Darling) Strick, brothers-in-law Robert (Roseanne) Bastian and Donald (Betty) Van Denack. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Blanche Strick, sister Marie (Roger) Thiel, brother Billy (Doris) Strick, brother-in-law Paul Kinder, and great-grandson Tyler Court.
    A Mass of Resurrection for Earl will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 6 pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church - Kimberly Site, 600 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly. Fr. Bob Kollath celebrant. Private interment Holy Name Cemetery. Family and friends may gather, at the Church, from 4 pm until time of Mass.

    Pennings-Beasley, Mrs. AnneMrs. Anne Pennings-Beasley, age 49, passed away peacefully after a courage ous nine-month battle with cancer, on November 20, 2004, with her husba nd Will, family members and her beloved Mik, by her side at her home in S an Ramon, Calif. Anne was born April 6, 1955, in Little Chute, Wis., the d aughter of the late Wilbert and Dorothy Pennings. She married Will Beasl ey on September 6, 2003, and had been a resident of Contra Costa County f or the past 19 years. Anne graduated from St. John's High School in Litt le Chute and continued her study of marketing at UW-Milwaukee. Anne w as a successful entrepreneur who spent the majority of her career buildi ng and managing a thriving promotional products rep group known as compa ny A. She served on the board of PMANC, her industries local business asso ciation. Much to the chagrin of her family, Anne was an avid 49er fan w ho often attended home games as a season ticket holder.     Corrine "Cubby" Verkuilen, of Pickerel, died Monday, April 4, 2016 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 78. She was born on June 1, 1937 in Little Chute, a daughter of the late John and Irma (Revoir) Pennings. She married James Verkuilen on June 6, 1956 in Little Chute. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2009.
    She was a graduate of Kaukauna High School with the class of 1955.
    After high school, she began her business career with Home Mutual Insurance Company in Little Chute. In 1964, Cubby and her husband bought the Sandy Beach Resort in Pickerel. They renamed the resort to Arbutus Lake Supper Club. After the sale of the resort in 1990, she worked at the Pioneer Express until her retirement in 2013.
    She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary at St. Mary Catholic Church.
    Survivors include three daughters, Kelly (Randy) Jaje, Pickerel, Cyndee (Scott) McClintock, Atlanta, Georgia, Christy (Ron Pizl) Verkuilen, Antigo; two sons, Terry Verkuilen, Pickerel, Steve Verkuilen, Antigo; eight grandchildren, Josh Verkuilen, Pickerel, Chad (Casey) Jaje, Antigo, Megan Jaje, Pickerel, Cameron and Kayte McClintock, Atlanta, Georgia, Courtney (Mike) Albin, Pickerel, McKenzie Pizl, Antigo, Jason (fiancée Skye Brogan) Springer, Pickerel; five great-grandchildren, Kayden, Alden, Haydyn, Landon, and Dre; two sisters, Janice (Jim) VanCamp, Freedom, Laurie (special friend Tom Jochman) Latimer, Kaukauna; a brother, Daniel (Emily) Pennings, Des Moines, Iowa.
    In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Debra (Springer) Verkuilen, grandson, Michael Springer, and sister, Jolene DeGoey.

    Joline M. DeGoey, age 52, of 217 Lox Court, Combined Locks passed away peacefully Friday, April 16, after a strong and courageous battle with Cancer. She passed away at Cherry Meadows hospice with her family at her side. Joline was born July 23, 1951 in the Village of Little Chute, the daughter of the late John and Irma (Revoir) Pennings. She grew up in Little Chute and Kimberly and graduated from Kimberly High School in 1969. Joline graduated from Silver Lake College with a bachelor of Science in Business Management. Joline was employed by Theda Care Physicians where she managed the Osteopathic, Kimberly and Midway clinics. Her passions in life were her family, faith, career and her cottage. Joline touched the lives of all those around her with her selfless devotion and caring heart. Her unique sense of humor and vibrant love of life will be missed by all.
    She is survived by her husband Jim; two daughters, Jennifer (Jamie) Thern and Terri Jo Dercks; step daughters Emily DeGoey and Sarah (Shannon) Gazze, Kirsten Wirth; and a step son, Erik Rydberg; and four grandchildren, Cassie Jo, Chloe, Collin and Carter. She will also be missed by three sisters, Janice (Jim) Van Camp, Cubby (Jim) Verkuilen, Laurie Latimer; a brother, Daniel Pennings; and many other family members and friends.
    Her parents preceded her in death.
    Joline's memorial service will be 6 p.m. on Monday April 19, 2004 at CHRIST THE ROCK, W6254 Hwy 10-114, Menasha with Rev. Bill Lenz officiating. Viewing and visitation will be Monday at Church from 12:30 until 5:30 p.m.

    Kimberly - Geraldine M. De Goey, age 73, died Thursday, July 19, 2018 at St. Paul Home. She was born in Appleton on September 30, 1944 to the late Giles and Beatrice (Pennings) Watry. Geraldine married Donald De Goey on May 2, 1964. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2017. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing with Don and taking care of her flowers. Geraldine and Don spent much of their time together vacationing in Lac Du Flambeau. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and preparing wonderful meals for family events.
    Geraldine is survived by her children: Jeff (Boe) of Oshkosh; Dave (Michele) of Salem; and Deborah (Chris) Jansen of Hollandtown; grandchildren: Philip De Goey, Luke and Erin Jansen, William, Caroline and Dylan De Goey; siblings: Carol Vander Burgt, Richard (Deborah) Watry, Linda (Dave) Hietpas and Judy Watry; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Lori (Don) Philips, Jack, Kenneth (Sandy) and Janice De Goey. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Joan M. Verstegen, Little Chute, age 71, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017. She was born in Kaukauna on August 29, 1945 to the late Clarence and Eunice (Van Dalen) Pennings. Joan married James A. Verstegen at St. Paul Parish in Combined Locks on February 14, 1969. Her hobbies included sewing elaborate costumes for her daughter's crazy Halloween ideas and reattaching an occasional button for her grandson, reading a good Amish novel and then passing them on to another book lover, cooking, and riding their motorcycle. She loved shopping at many local thrift shops. What jubilation she would find in locating a Mexican throw blanket. Joan also enjoyed going to Lake Park Swim and Fitness. She retired from Schenck Business Solutions in 2008. In retirement, she enjoyed wintering in central Florida. There, she also took part in water aerobics and took many trips to "the Square" in the golf cart. Many nights were also spent with Florida friends playing games or cards.
    Joan is survived by her husband of 48 years, James; children: Carrie (Doug) Hietpas, Kaukauna; and James M. "Jamie" (Kristin) of Appleton; grandchildren: Garret Harp, Nathanial, Grant and Eloise Verstegen; great grandson, Levi Harp; brother and sister: Gerald (Grace) Pennings and Christy Pennings; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Barbara Pennings, Gary Kuborn, Donna Verstegen, Bonnie Pomo and Timothy Verstegen. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her siblings: Charles Pennings and Shirley Kuborn; and her father and mother-in-law: Harold and Rosella (Grode) Verstegen.

    Charles Pennings, Hilbert, age 70, beloved husband, father and grandfather (Bumpa) passed away surrounded by his family on July 3, 2017 at ThedaCare Hospital (AMC) in Appleton.
    Chuck was born on October 23, 1946 to Clarence and Eunice Pennings in Appleton and grew up in Little Chute and Combined Locks. After graduating from Kimberly High School in 1964, he enlisted in the US Air Force in March of 1966. During the Vietnam War he was assigned to bases including Bentwaters AFB in England, Aviano AFB in Italy, and Incirlik AFB in Turkey as a jet engine mechanic. He was very proud of his service to our country and spoke of the pleasant experiences often with his family, but especially his dear grandchildren. He completed his tour of duty after almost 5 years attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
    Soon after his return home he met Barb Brunner of Combined Locks. Chuck and Barb were united in marriage on May 5, 1978 in Menominee, Michigan. Their son, Ryan was born shortly after.
    Chuck was employed by Enstrom Helicopter in Menominee for a few years when Chuck & and Barb decided to get away from the cold and snow. They made it back to Combined Locks when on a whim he applied to Air Wisconsin Airlines in Appleton and was hired in December 1979 as an Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic. So much for leaving the cold and snow!! In 1983, they were relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana where a new adventure awaited. After 6+ years there and new friends, they returned to the Appleton area, and purchased a home in the Black Creek area. In 2000, they bought their retirement home on Lake Winnebago and began their dream of "a lake in the front yard", fishing at the push of a button and watching sunsets together over the water. Chuck's fishing knowledge of Lake Winnebago became widely known but he only shared it with those closest to him.
    Chuck filled his days with teaching his son everything a father should, including sharing his love of fishing. Chuck and Ryan were great fishing buddies for many, many years. Ryan started playing baseball at the age of 5 and his dad was a great teacher and sometimes coach. Dad was there for every game cheering him on and signaling to him from the bleachers. He was always so proud of him. Later in life he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and made it to as many of their soccer and baseball games as he could.
    Chuck loved puttering in his shop and was always making something for someone or repairing things.
    Chuck will forever be remembered and loved by his wife of 39 years, Barb, his son Ryan, daughter-in-law Betsy, his dearest grandchildren MiKayla, MiKenzie and Ryder of Black Creek and step-grandson Tyler Snyder of Appleton, He is further survived by his brother Gerald (Grace) Pennings of Peshtigo, his sisters Joan (Jim) Verstegen of Little Chute, Christy Pennings of Kaukauna, brother-in-law Gary (Bernadine) Kuborn of Waupaca, sister-in-law Karla (fiancé Tom Guyette) Hauser of Appleton, Bruce (Sherry) Brunner of Appleton, Kathy (Gary) Hooyman of Kaukauna, Karen (Ken) Kersten of Kaukauna, Brad (Cheri) Brunner. There are also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
    Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Eunice Pennings, his dearest sister Shirley Kuborn, his father-in-law Harold Brunner of Litte Chute, his mother-in-law Hazel Brunner of Combined Locks and many other aunts and uncles. They will be waiting with open arms to welcome him into heaven.

    Dad, for 39 years you taught me and were my guide, my rock to lean on when I needed it and an ear when I needed someone to listen. You were always my favorite fishing & hunting partner, and usually guide. I'll miss our arguments about baseball, about where the walleyes are in Winnebago, but most of all I will miss your smile and "Hi Pal" every time I answered the phone or walked in the door. I'll take care of everything down here dad, don't you worry. I love you.
    Dad, for almost 18 years I have had the privilege to call you that. You have shown me a lot of things from your knowledge bank. You gave me my best friend and I could never thank you enough for that. You listened to me when I just needed ears to hear me and you gave me lots of advice sitting on the swing watching the lake.     James Arthur Dercks, age 60 died peacefully Sunday, November 24, 2013 after a short illness. Jim was born on February 14, 1953 in Little Chute, Wisconsin, son of Eugene and Clare Dercks. Jim married the love of his life, Rochelle Yngcong, on April 11, 1998 at a civil ceremony in Green Bay, Wisconsin and a Catholic mass of celebration in Roxas City, Philippines in January 1999. Jim was a member of St John's Parish.
    Jim began his high school years at St Lawrence Seminary and graduated from St John High School in 1971. He served two years in the US Army in Bamberg, Germany as a medic. After completion of his service to his country Jim received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oshkosh. He worked at the Kimberly Mill for 27 years. He was the financial secretary of the mill union. Jim was instrumental in the efforts to keep the mill open. Upon the mill closing he returned to school and earned his master's degree as a licensed advanced social worker specializing in substance and domestic violence abuse. At the time of his death he was employed by Attic Correctional as a domestic violence group facilitator. Jim's volunteer work was very important to him. Most recently he was a volunteer for the Offender Program for Outagamie County. Jim was an avid reader and traveler.
    Jim is survived by his wife, Rochelle, and their two Maltese dogs, Sammy and Goliath. He is further survived by his mom, Clare; his brother Steve (Dori) Dercks and their children, Nick, Mike (Katie) and Charlie Dercks; sister Paula (Tom) Zielinski and their children, Dave (Katie) Schommer, Tara (Christopher) DePrey, Brad (Angie) Zielinski and Michael Zielinski; brother Dan (Amy) Dercks and their daughters, Emily (fiance Adam ) and Katie (fiance Rob); and sister Beth (John) Straw and their children Christopher and Kevin Johnson and Joel and Tatum Straw. He is also survived by a very special Aunt Rosemary Pennings. He was preceded in death by his dad, Eugene, in March of 1998; and his loyal dog Chancey.
    Jim had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be sadly missed by his family and all of the people whose lives he touched.
    Funeral services for Jim will be held at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine Street, Little Chute, WI). Friends and family may call at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Mass. Military rites conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 will immediately follow.     Thomas James Joseph Pennings, Sr., age 57, of N1775 Schoenborn Rd. in Chil ton, died on Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at his home in Chilton followi ng a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 5, 1948, in Appleto n, WI, son of Lucille "Toots" (Marquardt) Pennings and the late James Penn ings. Tom graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1967 and worked at Tecums eh Engines in New Holstein for 36 years. He married Gail (Larson) Scheig er on June 26, 1993 in Chilton.
    He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and served in the Unit ed States Army during Vietnam where he flew in over 200 missions and earn ed many air and soldier medals including and the Distinguished Flying Cro ss for heroism while participating in aerial flight to deliver badly need ed ammunition to another unit.
    Tom was very artistic and shared his talents through many murals and caric atures. He also enjoyed bowling, going up north, spending time outside, wo odworking, telling jokes, and spending time with his family; especially h is grandchildren.
    Survivors include his wife, Gail; his mother, Lucille; four children: T om Jr. (Deb) Pennings of Appleton; Tammy (Rob) Wolf of Stockbridge; Dale P ennings of New Holstein; Kristie (Mike) Hostettler of Chilton; four grandc hildren: Bradley and Benjamin Pennings, Michael Jr. and Maria Hostettle r; and four siblings: Donna Rae (Pat) DeBroux of Grand Chute; Richard Penn ings of Lily, WI; Ben (Kay) Pennings of Little Chute; and Anne (Mike) Jun io of Kaukauna. Tom is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relativ es and many friends.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Pennings; a brother, Jay Penni ngs, and a sister, Rebecca Pennings.
    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Go od Shepherd Catholic Church in Chilton with the Rev. Greg Smith officiatin g. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieti ng Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4-8 p.m. on Frida y, January 20, 2006 and on Saturday at Church from 10-10:45 a.m. when serv ices will be held. A parish vigil service will be held Friday evening at t he funeral home at 7:30 p.m. A memorial fund has been established in the n ame of Thomas J. Pennings.

    Obituary:
    John Joseph Rohr, age 25, of Darboy, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, September 15, 2016. John was born on November 5, 1990, son of John C. and Valerie (Pennings) Rohr. He was a graduate of Kimberly High School and was an accomplished bowler at a very young age. John enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially bow hunting with his dad. He loved being an uncle to his two nieces and John was a great dad. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
    In addition to his parents, John is survived by his loving son, Johnny "J.J." Rohr; his sister, Amber (Ryan) Searer; his nieces, Aubree and Aliyah; his grandparents, Emmi "Oma" Rohr, Margaret Pennings, and Joe (Cassie) Pennings; his girlfriend, Kiley Croattes; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, other family members and friends.
    John was preceded in death by his grandpa, Charles A. "Opa" Rohr.
    Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 101 Canal St., Little Chute. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. Interment will be in Holy Angels Cemetery, Darboy.     The family would like to extend a special thank you to Josh and the staff at Mooring House and Michelle Femal for all of the help and support given to John. Also, thank you to the Outagamie County Sheriff's Department, First Responders, and Gold Cross for all of their efforts.
