    Van Gompel, Elmer E.Elmer Edward Van Gompel, of Appleton, formerly of Little Chute; husband, d ad, grandpa and great- grandpa passed away peacefully after a short illne ss surrounded by his loving family October 3, 2005 at the age of 77. He w as born December 3, 1927 to Martin and Mary (Van Domelen) Van Gompel in Li ttle Chute. He married Joyce Jansen November 17, 1950 at St. John Nepomuce ne Catholic Church in Little Chute where he was a lifetime member. Elmer o wned and operated Johnson's Cleaners and later managed Peerless Cleaner s. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening and caring for his wif e. As a younger man, Elmer enjoyed playing his drums in a polka band and w as known to many as "Cha-Cha." He had also been a member of the Little Chu te Kiwanis Club.Elmer is survived by his wife, Joyce; children: Doris (Bob) Vanden Boogar d, Little Chute; Lois (Mark) Kiel, Kaukauna; Ken (Kathy) Van Gompel, Litt le Chute; and Ann (Bill) Kerkhof, Kimberly; grandchildren: Linda (Merli n) Vanden Bloomer, Sharon (Brodi) Lund, Kristy Vanden Boogard (special fri end Brian), Stephanie (Mike) Kobussen, Nicole Kiel (special friend Matt ), Matthew Kiel, Nick, Jenny and Kelly Van Gompel, and Bill Jr. (Rachel) a nd Jamie Kerkhof; great-grandchildren: Skyler and Trevor Vanden Bloomer, C onner and Kylie Lund; a sister, Verone Gloudemans; brothers and sisters-in -law: Dolores and Ruth Van Gompel, Maureanus Vanden Wyngaard, Maggie (Ir v) Guernsey, John (Elaine), Toots and Roger (Darlene) Jansen. Elmer is al so survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by his son Wayn e, seven brothers and five sisters.Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2005 at St. J ohn Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. The Rev. Patrick Beno will o fficiate. Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until the time of Mass at Churc h. Interment St. John Cemetery, Little Chute.The Van Gompel family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the sta ff at Theda Clark Hospital, Appleton Medical Center, Dr. Torres and The da Clark Rehabilitation.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.

    Van Gompel, Wayne D. "Stitc h" Athens, TennesseeFormerly of Little Chute, age 50, died unexpectedly Monday, October 28, 20 02 in Athens. He was born June 14, 1952 in Appleton, son of Elmer E. and J oyce T. (Jansen) Van Gompel. Mr. Van Gompel worked at Johnson Cleaners. Wa yne then founded Stitch's Alterations and Repairs, Little Chute until 19 99 when he moved to Tennessee. A note of special thanks to Jane Vanden Heu vel for her assistance at Stitch's. He currently was employed at Waupaca F oundry, Athens, Tennessee. Wayne loved his dog, Dee Dee and his cotta ge at Waupaca Chain of Lakes. He enjoyed antiques and had a talent for pur chasing older homes and fixing them up to new beauty.Wayne is survived by his parents: Elmer E. (Joyce T.) Van Gompel, Appleto n; his close friend, Mike Ross, Athens, Tennessee; a brother, Kenneth M.
