    Mrs. Walter Heiss Margaret M. Heiss, age 92, of Appleton, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at Grand Horizons Care Center following a short illness. Margaret was born January 20, 1914, in Freedom, the daughter of the late Patrick and Dorothy (Weyenberg) Murphy. She resided in Appleton for most of her life and attended Appleton High School. On August 30, 1935, Margaret was united in marriage to Walter Heiss, sharing 62 years together before his death on October 29, 1997.Margaret was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a 30 year member of St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary.She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Margaret loved to knit and had a special talent for knitting beautiful Afghans which she gave to family and friends. In addition, Margaret enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing cards or Yatzee.She will be deeply missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Ceil Heiss of Monroe Township, NJ; grandson, Matthew Heiss of Chatham, NJ; sister, Marie Van Dehy of Appleton; sisters-in-law: Joan Murphy and Doris Heiss of Appleton; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy (Walter) Van Hoof; four brothers: Ignatius (Ann), Patrick, James, and Joseph (Elaine) Murphy; brothers-in-law: Martin Van Dehy and Robert Heiss.The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday October 14th at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton, with Fr. Brian Belongia officiating. Friends may call directly at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service. Margaret will be laid to rest next to Walter at Highland Memorial Park.A Memorial fund has been established the Alzheimer Association.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice and the entire staff of Grand Horizons for all the loving care they gave to Margaret and her family.
