    Biography:
JOHN STEP HEENAN, general farmer, stockraiser and dairyman of Grand Chute township, is operating 250 acres of fine farming land, on which he was born December 25, 1859, a son of John and Mary (Conway) Heenan, natives of Ireland. John Heenan was born in County Tipperary and his wife in County Clare, and they were married in Appleton, Wisconsin, removing to the Grand Chute township farm the day after the ceremony. At this time the farm and the surrounding country were a vast wilderness, not even a wagon road leading through, but Mr. Heenan built himself a little home, and started in to clear the brush and timber from the land and to get it ready for the first crop. After this had been accomplished, the property was rapidly cultivated, each year finding further improvements, and when he deeded the land to his son in about 1895, it was one of the best farms in this section of the township. Mr. Heenan died on this property in 1903, his wife having passed away in 1885. They were the parents of six children: Margaret, deceased; John Stephen; Bridget, wife of James Garvey, a resident of Freedom township; James, and two who died in infancy. John Stephen Heenan attended the district schools of Grand Chute township, and was brought up on the home farm, which he has never left. As soon as he was old enough he began to do his share of the clearing and cultivating, and he was given charge of the property several years before it was deeded to him. He now has 250 acres under cultivation, devoted to general farming, and he makes dairying a specialty, disposing of his milk to the cheese factories of this vicinity. He is a member of the Roman Catholic Church at Appleton, and takes an independent stand in politics. On January 30, 1894, Mr. Heenan was married to Miss Katherine Garvey, who was born in Freedom township, April 30, 1865, daughter of Patrick and Phoebe (Carney) Garvey. Patrick Garvey was born in County Westmeade, Ireland, and his wife in County Queens, and they were married in 1850 in New York, whence Mr. Garvey had come in 1848. He worked on public works in New York City for about five years, and then went to Hungry Hollow, Ohio, where he was engaged in railroad construction for about four years, at the end of which time he came to Freedom township and bought a farm. Mr. Garvey became one of the prosperous citizens of his township, and served in various offices. His death occurred in 1887, his widow surviving him until 1904. They were the parents of eleven children, of whom five are now living: Mary, a sister in the convent at Milwaukee; Mrs. Heenan; Rose, the wife of Francis J. Vanlaanan, of Green Bay; Elizabeth, the wife of Gerhart Vandelocht, of Appleton; and Patrick, a farmer of Freedom township. Mr. and Mrs. Heenan have had seven children, born as follows: John Stephen, Jr., April 25, 1895; Patrick James, April 24, 1897; Mary Martha, October 30, 1898; Phoebe Ann, January 8, 1900; James Sylvester, May 3, 1901; Ruth Magdalene, November 4, 1902; and Francis Joseph, November 24, 1905 .

I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this lasting light.

    Obituary:
On June 7, 2016, Tom ascended to heaven to meet his Lord and to see his sons Tony and Danny once again.
Thomas J. Heenan was born on March 18, 1943 in Appleton, one of eight children. His entire life was spent around anything with wheels - tractors, cars, lawnmowers, and semi-trucks. He was a valued and trusted truck driver for more than forty years, having spent the last twenty-nine years driving for Osborn and Son Trucking in Fond du Lac. Tom immensely enjoyed any time spent with his children, grandchildren, and good friends. He also loved the Green Bay Packers. How many people do you know that were at the very first Super Bowl?
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years: Ruth Heenan; five children: Scott (Dee) Heenan of Neenah; Terry (Mary) Heenan of Freedom; Tammy (Joe) Nennig of Hortonville; Randy Heenan of Neenah; and Lisa (Mike) Fassbender of Appleton; two furry friends: Duke and Kosmo. Tom is further survived by his grandchildren: Shelby Heenan, Chelsey Heenan, Trent Heenan, Tanner (Jen) Kleist, Madelyn Heenan, Kolton Heenan, Danielle Heenan, Joseph Nennig, Jr., Andrew (Amanda) Nennig, Amanda (Jesse) Young, Lacye Jo (Adam) Althaus, Justin Heenan, Brooke Heenan, Kodye Fassbender, and a very special kid Nycole Fassbender. He is also survived by a brother: Jerry (Ginny) Heenan; ten great-grandchildren with another to arrive soon, brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his very special friends: Delmar and Vi Sewall and his Osborn Buddy, Bobby.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents: James and Mildred (Gast) Heenan, Ruth's parents: Ervin and LaVaughn (Oatman) Anderson, sisters Phoebe Kempen, Faith (Delmar) DeMand, and Mary Crawford; brothers: Johnny Heenan, Chuck Heenan, and Jim Heenan; nieces Molly Kundert, Mary Anderson, and Sherry Heenan; and a nephew Andrew Kempen.
The funeral liturgy for Tom will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 10, 2016 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, N2385 Municipal Drive in Greenville, with Fr. Peter Mitchell officiating. Interment will take place in Appleton's St. Mary Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to gather at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again Friday at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. We express our sincere gratitude to all who were so good to Annie through the years, and these past 14 days at AMC. Especially Fr Dan Felton, Fr Walter Stumpf, Fr Ricardo Basquinez, Fr Charlie Brooks, Deacon Jeff Hofacker - your visits made Annie feel very special. Nieces Kim and Sue for bringing communion every day, Tina for making her feel like a princess last Saturday, all of the family that sat with us and prayed with Annie around the clock, and provided food (especially those chocolate chip cookies, and banana muffins) for all of us to share. To: Fr Justin Werner, Fr Norman Krutzik, Fr Willard VanDeLoo, Fr Louis Vermeeresh, Deacon Joe Lehman, and Deacon Ray Ambrosious your prayers and support through the years with Annie will never be forgotten.
Annie was like a mother, aunt, sister, child to all of our family. She seldom complained unless of course we were running low on "supplies". She enjoyed spending time these past two years on her little vacations to the brown cabin, stopping to get ice cream and French fries on the way up or back, going to Rico's whenever she could and Mary's Place dumpling soup. She was a very faith filled woman and prayed the rosary as often as she could with Mother Angelica at 8:30pm. This past week she even got the see the ocean via facetime while visiting with her Miss Megan in California. It was obviously on Annie's bucket list based on the excitement in her voice when she told her next visitors that she got to see the ocean. Recently she discovered the joy and beauty of getting her nails done by Lexi 1st coat 2nd coat, then don't forget the clear stuff. She displayed every new color proudly. Annie also had a strong love for animals especially "Patch" the kitty cat, Starburst and Peaches the fish, and the bow wows most notably the one with the blue tag.
Thank you to all of her medical care givers; Dr. Deb Ralston and staff, the 8th floor team at AMC and Louise, Beth, and Melissa with Theda Care Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the greatest gift that you can give in Annie's memory is to spend time with the less fortunate, and visit the sick and lonely in your community and those in our hospitals and nursing home.
To Mag and the old man (as Annie would say) - we know that you have went before us to prepare a special place for Annie in heaven. We commend her soul to Jesus and you for eternal keeping.
Annie your time has come to be free of all ailments. We love you dearly. You have taught us more than anyone knows, and until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Don't let the bed bugs bite Donna!

Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Online condolences may be expressed at www.muehlboettcher.com
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Nick's name for St. Edward School, as Nick's heart was always with the little children.
Nick loved God and family above all else, and he valued a hard day's work. He enjoyed simple things in life: nature, mowing the lawn, talking to other farmers across the Midwest, his dogs and peacocks, a clean pick-up truck, a good deal on a piece of machinery, a frozen Hershey bar, and an ice-cold Coke. He never failed to appreciate the woods in all of its beautiful seasons. Some of his happiest moments were enjoyed around the fire pit, surrounded by his wife, kids and grandchildren…and an endless supply of Schwan's bars. Anyone who knew Nick will think of him when they see an antique tractor, a shiny fire truck, a classic episode of Seinfeld, or a cock-eyed farmer's cap.
Special thanks to the Center First Responders, the Emergency Cardiac Team at Appleton Medical Center, Father Dan Felton, Deacon Jeff Hofacker, and all who were with us on Saturday morning.
Papa, you were the best of everything to all of us. We are truly blessed to have had you in our lives. We will love you and miss you forever. As you would say, "God love".

Her greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She was "Grandma Maggie" to many children and a mother figure to many. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and was deeply devoted to her parish family, her faith in God, and helping those in need.
Maggie was granted her wish of having a living wake with the many family and friends who visited her at home throughout the past few weeks.
In Lieu of flowers, please give your time to the less fortunate and visit the sick and lonely in our hospitals and nursing homes. This is the greatest gift you can give in Maggie's memory.
Special thanks to the ThedaCare at Home Hospice team and to all of the doctors and nurses who assisted us throughout this time.
Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
To all of my children and grandchildren…I Love You. GRANDMA, WE LOVE YOU MORE.

    Kodye-
We hope and pray you've found the peace you sought. Part of our hearts went to heaven with you. The remaining parts we'll hold and remember you all our days. We'll always be proud to be called your mom, dad and sister. Until we meet again, our love for you is unending.
Love you. Mom, Dad and Nycole.
    Kodye,
I am so heartbroken over losing you-you were my bud. Make sure G-Pa does the McDonald's runs til I see you again.
Love and miss you. G'Ma Heenan.

    Obituary:
Hope Elizabeth Hofacker was born asleep in Christ on Thursday, April 5, 2001, and is now one of God's little angels. She will be sadly missed by her parents, Jeffrey and Laura (Smet) Hofacker, Appleton; her older brother, Lathan. She also leaves behind her grandparents, Paul Hofacker, Mary Ellen Hofacker and Clarence (Margaret) Smet; aunts and uncles, Dan Hofacker, Greg (Jodi) Hofacker, Jenny (fiance Andy Strelow) Hofacker, Tom (Sue) Smet, Sue (Bob) Christensen, Joann (Lenny) Smurawa, Bob Smet, Linda (Mike) Nolan and John (Renee) Smet. Hope is further survived by her cousins, Collin, Caden, Craig, Adam, Nicole, Paul, Jerrod, Gary, Janice, Trisha and Erica. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at St. Edward Catholic Church, N2921 State Highway 47, Appleton, with Father Charles Brooks officiating. Visitation will be from 9- 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment in St. Edward Cemetery will follow the service. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses of Appleton Medical Center and also to clergy, family and friends for all of their support and prayers. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established in Hope's name. When God calls little children to dwell with Him above, We mortals sometimes question the wisdom of His love. For no heartache compares with the death of one small child Who does so much to make our world seem wonderful and mild. Perhaps God tires of calling the aged to His fold. So He picks a rosebud before it can grow old. God knows how much we need them, and so He takes but few To make the land of heaven more beautiful to view. Believing this is difficult still somehow we must try. The saddest word mankind knows will always be goodbye. So when a little child departs, we who are left behind Must realize God loves children, angels are hard to find. Valley Funeral Home 2211 N. Richmond St. 733-5435
