    Schmidt, Carol M. "Tweet" A ge 76, passed away Saturday, August 23 surrounded by the presence of tho se she loved. Tweet was born on June 10, 1927. She was united in marria ge September 22, 1948 to Ray Schmidt. They were together for almost 55 yea rs. Ray has always said they have had a very very good life together, enjo ying their wonderful family and friends.Carol is survived by her husband, Ray; Two daughters: Jane (Joe) Kaufma n, Kaukauna; Julie (Dan) Bongers, Little Chute; And two sons: Albert (Shir ley) Schmidt, Kaukauna; and Wallie (Amy) Schmidt, Arlington, Virginia. S he is also survived by grandchildren: Paul (Jaime) Kaufman, Appleton; Jo hn and Carol Kaufman, Kaukauna; Jackie Bongers, Chicago; Michael and Gr eg Bongers, Little Chute; Maria and Christopher Schmidt, Kaukauna; and Cha rlie and Sam Schmidt, Arlington, Virginia. And two great grandchildren: Cl aire and Marie Kaufman, Appleton. She is further survived by two sister s, Phyllis Nelson and Marian Van Groll; a brother-in-law, Mike Verhagen; s isters-in-law, Margaret and Maggie Zornow; Ray's family, Art (Glady) Schmi dt, Helen Lenz, Mary Ann Austin, Eleanor (Marv) Hietpas, Marge (Ed) Mentze r, Bill (Barbara) Schmidt, Florence (Mike) McKenna; and many nieces and ne phews. She is also survived by special friends: Audrey and Marv Huss a nd a special niece, Kathy Kennedy, who donated her kidney, a life saving g ift, to Carol in 1989.She is preceded in death by three children at birth: Mary, James, and John .She is also preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Dory (Jansen) Zo rnow, Little Chute; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert and Margar et (Wanke) Schmidt; a sister, June Verhagen, brothers, Jack and Bill Zorno w, and brothers-in-law, Ignatius Lenz, and Frank Austin.Tweet and Gladys Schmidt shared the accounting responsibilities for Schmi dt Oil Company for the first 14 years. Tweet and Marian were very instrume ntal in starting the Riverview Nursing Home Auxiliary. Tweet was the Gi rl Scout Cookie chairman for the city of Kaukauna for many years. She w as also a very active volunteer at St. Al's. Together with Ray, she co-cha ired the parish picnic and the school pizza sale for many years. She w as a member at Fox Valley Golf Club. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, bakin g, cards, bingo, puzzles, and especially telling jokes. Tweet and Ray ha ve been very supportive of the Maxie Fund for the research of juvenile dia betes. Research of juvenile diabetes remains a primary concern for the Sch midt family and all who loved Tweet. She was an insulin dependent diabet ic for 53 years.A special thanks to Tweet's sister, Marian, who spent thirty years of Thur sdays eating, drinking, and talking smart with Tweet at the Lox Club, whi le Ray was practicing for his hole-in-one. The family would like to tha nk St. Elizabeth's Hospital for the special care and concern given by t he nursing staff and Drs. Misty Johnson and John Butitta.The funeral service will be at noon on Tuesday, August 26 at St Aloysius C atholic Church, 2401 Main Avenue Kaukauna with Father David Schmidt offici ating. Friends will be received on Monday at the Boettcher Family Funer al Home 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., wi th a prayer service at 7:30 and again on Tuesday at Church from 10:00 a. m. until the time of service. A memorial is being established in Carol's n ame. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home (766-2099) is assisting the family.
    FOR THOSE I LOVE FOR THOSE WHO LOVE MEWhen I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and d o. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears. Be happy that we had so ma ny years. I gave you my love; you can only guess how much you gave me in h appiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it's ti me to travel on alone. So grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must, then l et your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for awhile that we must par t, so bless the memories that lie within your heart. I won't be far awa y, for life goes on, but if you need me, call and I will come... though y ou can't see or touch me, I will be near. And if you listen with your hear t, you'll hear all of my love around you, soft and clear... and then... wh en you must come this way alone...I'll greet you with a smile and say "wel come home".
