    Vandehey, Glen "Banjo Man"Glen Vandehey "Banjo Man" Kimberly, Age 84, died after a courageous batt le with Parkinson's disease on Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Brewster Villag e. Glen was born January 11, 1921, to the late Alfred and Theresa (Gree n) Vandehey in Kaukauna. He married the former Marian Jansen on Septemb er 14, 1946, at St. John's Parish in Little Chute. Glen entered the U.S. A rmy in 1942 and was a member of the 88th Signal Battalion (spc) 233rd Sign al Operations Company. He was stationed in the South Pacific for 30 month s, spending 7 grueling days behind enemy lines. Glen assisted in the Liber ation of the Philippines and was finally transferred to Japan one day aft er the surrender of the Japanese Imperial Army. He was honorably discharg ed in 1945 and soon returned to Kaukauna and began working for Thilmany Pu lp and Paper. He began his career in the ink room and moved up with the co mpany to his retirement position in research and development in technic al sales. He retired in 1983 after completing 43 years and 8 months of ser vice to Thilmany. Glen was a self-taught musician, specializing in the Ban jo, in his younger days he and his family would entertain residents of loc al nursing homes with their musical talents. He scored a Hole-In-One on Au gust 25th, 1967, at Hickory Hills Golf Course and enjoyed golf througho ut his life. In 1972, Glen began building, by hand, his log cabin in Fenc e, WI. He started with a picture window and found great satisfaction wh en he completed it. Glen was a poet; he penned many, many poems over the y ears. The popularity of these poems caused a great stir among friends, fam ily and coworkers as they would ask him to write specific ditties about fa mily life and retirement. Glen was a member of the Quarter Century Club (P ast President), American Legion Post 258 of Little Chute, and the Boy Scou ts of America. He worked as a Scout Master, was an Eagle Scout and earn ed the Silver Beaver, St. George and the Order of the Arrow Award. Glen al so volunteered for many years for the Gardner Dam Camp as a counselor a nd cook.He is survived by his wife, Marian Vandehey; his five children, Judy (Elme r) Van Dyke and their three children, Jeffrey (Kim), Jonathan (Tara) and J enny (Ron) Bahr, Mary (David) Verboomen and their three children, Christop her (Kay), Steven & Amie, John (Valerie) Vandehey and their five childre n, Shannan, Stefanie, Samantha, Shawn Behrens & Nicholas Behrens, Debra (K evin) Van Dynhoven and their two children, Jessica & Jason, Mark (Sheil a) Vandehey and their two children, Ryan & Katie; nine great-grandchildre n, Logan, Emmaline, Jacqi, Steve, Kayden, Xander, Satia, Nova and Makenna h. PAUL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street, Combined Locks, w ith Fr. Robert Vandenberg and Fr. Jim Lucas concelebrating. Friends wi ll be received on Monday at the Church from 2:30 p.m. until the time of se rvice. Full Military Burial Rites will be performed after services outsi de the Church by the American Legion Post 258 of Little Chute. Interment w ill take place on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. John Catholic Cemetery in L ittle Chute.In lieu of flowers, a donations may be directed to Brewster Village or t he American Parkinson's Association.     Judith A. Van Dyke, of Kimberly, age 62, passed away on Friday morning, April 2, 2010, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born July 11, 1947, to Glen and Marian (Jansen) Vandehey. On November 9, 1968, she was united in marriage to Elmer R. Van Dyke at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. Judy earned her degree in nursing at Mercy Medical School of Nursing in Oshkosh. She enjoyed her career which encompassed pediatrics to geriatrics. Judy loved her arts and crafts, gardening, going to baseball games, picnics, long rides, and time spent with family and friends. A special joy in her life was her grandchildren, Logan and Emmaline.
    She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Elmer; her three children: Jeff (special friend Diane), Jon (Tara), and Jenny (Ron) Bahr; her two grandchildren: Logan and Emmaline; and her mother, Marian Vandehey. She is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Marvin (Kathy) Van Dyke and Dan (Barb) Van Dyke; nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters, other relatives, and many very special friends.
    She was preceded in death by her father; mother and father-in-law: Ben and Hattie Van Dyke; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Luella (Roy) Grissman.
    The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street, Combined Locks, with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Friends may call on Monday, April 5, 2010, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. concluding the evening.     Mark E. Vandehey, age 51, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mark was born on May 14, 1959, the son of Glen L. and Marion (Jansen) Vandehey, originally of Kimberly, WI. Mark graduated Kimberly High School in 1977 and married the love of his life, Sheila Marie Fens of Combined Locks in 1980. They shared 30 years of marriage together, raising their two children, until her passing in 2009 due to breast cancer. Mark worked in several area paper mills including, Thilmany, Appleton Papers, and Appleton Coated until he retired to begin his treatment. An avid do-it-yourselfer, Mark learned the carpentry trade working for Keith Fritsch Construction and built many area homes including his own. He enjoyed spending time on wood working projects in his workshop, doing home improvement projects with his son and father-in-law, attending his daughter's orchestra concerts in Stevens Point, and relaxing with family and friends at both his parent's cabin near Fence, WI, and his father- and mother-in-law's cottage near Mountain, WI.
    Mark survived by his son, Ryan (special friend Lindsey Harrington) of Kaukauna; daughter, Katie (special friend Ryan Victory) attending UW-Stevens Point; mother, Marion Vandehey of Appleton; brother, John A. Vandehey of Kaukauna; sister, Mary (David) Verboomen of Kaukauna; sister, Deb (Kevin) Van Dyn Hoven of Combined Locks; father- and mother-in-law, Roger and Diane Fens, of Neenah; brother-in-law, Keith (Leslie) Fens of Appleton; sister-in-law, Lisa (Pat) Brodsky of Conway, AR; loving nieces and nephews, his Godmother, Margaret Wildenberg of Kimberly, and many caring friends.
    He was preceded in death by his wife Sheila; father, Glen L. Vandehey; sister, Judy; sister-in-law, Valerie Vandehey; and Godfather, Pete Wildenberg.
    A Memorial Service for Mark will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 4, 2011, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. MARY'S CHURCH, 119 W. 7th St., Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. She was bo rn on May 10, 1917, in Little Chute to Henry and Marie (Van Gompel) Verbet en. Eleanor was a graduate of both St. John's Grade School and High Schoo l. On May 30, 1941, she married her forever love, Bob Vanden Heuvel. In 19 47 they moved to Wrightstown, and together operated Van's Food Market unt il 1974. Eleanor was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Wrightstow n, where she participated in Christian Mothers. Mom was also a member of W rightstown's American Legion Auxiliary Post 436.Eleanor spent her entire life helping others, starting as an adolescent st aying with her grandmother, and later in life taking care of her mother Ma rie, then taking her father-in-law Joe into her and Bob's home. The coup le enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, and spending time with their won derful friends and family.Her children and grandchildren were the most precious people in her lif e. She is survived by her children, Karen and Tom Zirbel; Connie and Dav id Schwalenberg; Tom and Jeanne Vanden Heuvel; and grandchildren, David a nd Lynn Zirbel; Sarah Zirbel and fiance Bob Schisel, Anna, Leah and Mar ia Schwalenberg; Emily Vanden Heuvel and special friend Cory Promer; and L iz Vanden Heuvel. Not to be forgotten are her sister, Millie Oskar; brothe r, Jerry, and sister-in-law, Jo Ann Verbeten; sisters-in-law, Helen Van Vr eede; Wynne Vanden Heuvel; and many nieces and nephews.
