    Family History Researcher:
My husband's grandmother, Mary Katherine Behnke, was born in 1929, and according to her memory, her birth parents were Norman "Foxgrover" and Clara Quella. She was put up for adoption when she was young. She was given their phone number to call them when she was very young, and went to a telephone booth to call them. She said when she got to the very last digit, she could not press it, and just hung up the phone. She never spoke to them. I'm trying to find blood relatives because she just passed away this month (April 2018) and would be interesting to see who we are related to, and where my husband's ancestors come from.

    Obituary:
William A. "Bill" Quella, of Menasha, age 86, passed away on November 11, 2013 (Veterans Day) at St. Elizabeth's Hospital with his family by his side. He was born March 10, 1927, son of the late Joseph and Agnes Quella.
Bill married Ardys Johnson (also known as "Susie") on January 31, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church, Appleton. She preceded him in death on October 25, 1996. Bill served in the Korean War. The Fox Valley was home to him and he was a proud semi-truck driver all his working years, retiring in 1989.
The cottage on Lake Winnebago was a special gathering place for family and friends before Mom and Dad were even married. A lot of wonderful memories were made there. Mom and Dad moved to "The Lake" in 1991. Next to his family, one of his biggest joys was spending time outdoors and in the woods, as his hobby was chopping firewood.
The Catholic faith was very important to Bill, and he was a Charter Member of St. Gabriel's Parish, Neenah. Family was also very important and he is survived by his daughter Susan (Greg) Magalski, four sons: Peter, David (Diane), Tony, and Steve Quella; four grandchildren: Brad Magalski, Becky (Brian) Griep, Brian (fiancée' Sarah Casperson) and Mike Quella. He is further survived by a brother Ray (Marilyn) Quella and a sister Margaret (Bud) Kangas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers: Tom, Kenny, Rich, and his sister Joan Reitzner.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, with Fr. Robert Lexa officiating. The visitation will be held at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, with a prayer service held at 7:30 PM. Visitation will also be held at the church on Thursday from 10:30 AM until the hour of Mass. Full military honors will follow the service performed by the US Army and the Neenah Menasha Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in his name.
Bill was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. We will always keep him close in our hearts and in our prayers. Many thanks to family and friends for their support. The family would also like to thank the medical staff at St. E's for their wonderful care and compassion.

    Obituary:
Debbie (Quella) Pickett, age 60 of Menasha, departed this world to return to our heavenly father on Thursday, July 17, 2014. She had endured a brief, yet courageous fight with cancer. Debbie was the oldest of six children born to Appleton natives Thomas and Eunice (Krueger) Quella on May 10, 1954. She was a devoted, lifelong member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Appleton, where she was actively involved in Sunday school and children's ministry. Debbie's abundant faith, love and generosity were the cornerstones of her life.
Debbie graduated from Appleton East High School in the class of 1972. She met her husband James Pickett while both were working at Sabre Lanes of Menasha. Jim and Debbie were married on April 2, 1977. The couple shared adventures across the country with friends as part of the Freedom Vans of Appleton club.
Jim and Debbie were blessed with their children Brad, Amanda, and Jesse, as well as Shane, Tammy and Wendy from Jim's previous marriage. Summers were a special time, when Shane, Tammy and Wendy were able to return from California to visit. The family enjoyed camping together all over the state as well as throughout the country with their many friends.
After Jim's death in 1991, Debbie enrolled in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, where she received her associate's degree in 1993. Debbie spent the next 17 years working with special needs birth to three year old children as a part of the Outagamie County Early Intervention program sponsored by Valley Packaging. In 2005, Debbie became part of the ThedaCare organization on a part-time basis working in area nursing homes. In 2010 she entered into a full-time position providing in-home therapy with ThedaCare at Home.
From high school throughout her adult life, Debbie was an active part of the Fox Valley gymnastics community. She started as a competitor, later became a coach at Gym Kids, a respected WIAA official and most recently enjoyed being an instructor at the Heart of the Valley YMCA.
Debbie's other passions included gardening, enjoying the company of her friends and family in Wild Rose, playing with her grandchildren and spending time on the beach.
Debbie is survived by children Brad (Melissa) Pickett, Amanda (Luke) Huston, daughter in-law Misty Pickett, Shane (Kerry) Pickett, Tammy Pickett and Wendy (Daniel) DaDalt. Grandchildren include James and Lily Pickett, Brenna and Isabella Pickett, Will and Meghan Pickett, and Olivia and Dominic DaDalt, brothers Jim, John and Jerry Quella, sisters Darlene (Dave) Quella and Diane (Randy) Krueger. She is further survived by a large extended family and far too many friends to count.
She will be welcomed into the care of our Lord by her husband James, son Jesse and parents Tom and Eunice (Krueger) Quella.
Funeral services for Debbie will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 26th, 2014 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 740 East College Avenue, Appleton, Wisconsin. Visitation and viewing for family and friends will be held Friday, July 25th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday, July 26th from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.

    Obituary:
Barbara A. (Quella) Baumgart, 52, Hortonville, was called to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, December 25, 2013, due to complications following a Stem Cell Transplant.
Barb was born on June 25, 1961 in Appleton, to Eugene and Sally (Van Remortel) Quella, the second eldest of 8 children. Barb was a 1979 graduate of Hortonville High School. On July 10, 1980, Barb was united in holy matrimony to Daniel H. Baumgart. Together they shared 33 years of marriage. God blessed them with five children, six grandchildren, and two more on the way. Barb herself said she lived her life to love and care for Dan and their children. In her last days, she said she had everything she ever wanted in life. Barb was a dedicated wife, a loving mother and grandmother. When it came to her family, if anyone needed her, she was sure to be there, giving us nothing but her best. Barb was a wonderful example to her children and grandchildren. She could light up the room with her smile. Very seldom would you stop over and leave hungry. She was a fantastic cook and baker. She could make anything you wanted, all from scratch. Barb and Dan enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Kickapoo Valley, many memories have been made there. Barb was a faithful member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. It can not be put into words how greatly she will be missed.
Barb is survived by her loving husband, Dan; their five children, Benjamin (Jodi) Baumgart, Samuel Baumgart (fiancé Tiffany Kuhnke), Teresa (Jared) Nelson, Christine (Sam) Beyer, and April Baumgart (special friend Trevor Doherty); six grandchildren, Brent and Blake Baumgart, Braelynn Baumgart, Connor, Alexia and Ethan Nelson. She is further survived by her parents, siblings; David (Ingrid) Quella, Janice JanseVreeling, Steven (Terri) Quella, Carol (Chris) Sullivan, Mary (Rick) Sanders, John (Aimee) Quella, Nancy (Greg) Hayes; Dan's parents, Walter and Beverly Baumgart, Dan's siblings, their spouses, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Raymond T. and Claudine Quella and maternal grandparents Clarence and Dorothy Van Remortel.
The Funeral Mass for Barb will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Greenville (N2385 Municipal Drive) with Fr. Dan Felton and Fr. Mark VanderSteeg officiating. Family and friends may visit directly at church Friday, January 3, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again directly at church Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.
Dan would like to express his gratitude to MCC, and fellow employees, for being so wonderful to him during this difficult time. With your compassion, understanding, and flexibility, Dan was able to love and care for Barb through everything up until the end. Our family is very grateful, words cant express what you've done for us.
Our family would like to thank Fr. Dan Felton, Fr. Mark VanderSteeg, and Fr. Justin Werner for all of the spiritual guidance and support you've given us. From the beginning of our journey to the end, you have individually guided Barb, Dan and our families, in different ways, at different times. With each of you, we find comfort that the Lord has embraced Barb, and has given her the most beautiful gift this Christmas.
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Appleton Medical Center, Froedtert Hospital and the BMT Unit, as well as the doctors and nurses at Cherry Meadows Hospice.
