Obituary:
Thomas G. "Fonzi" Fassbender, age 65, of Hortonville, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2008, surrounded by his loving family at St. Joseph Residence. Tom was born on October 5, 1943, in Appleton, son of Elmer and Irene (Tennie) Fassbender. On April 11, 1964, he was united in marriage to Carol Hawley. Tom drove truck for Midwest Bulk in Neenah for 15 years and at AAL (Thrivent) for 23 years retiring in 2001. He enjoyed golfing, the Pack, NASCAR, snowmobiling, tractor pulls and camping at Huckleberry; where he hooked everyone on beanbag golf, "watch out for Shinnie." Tom also loved to play fetch with his buddy Elli!
Tom is survived by his wife, Carol; his mother, Irene Fassbender, Greenville; two sons: Scott (Wendy) Fassbender, New London, their children, Ashley, Aaron and Alicia; and Jeff (Julie) Fassbender, Hortonville, their daughters, Holly, Carena and Alyssa; brothers: Larry (Margene), Hortonville; Gary, Appleton; Joe, Hortonville; Rick (Sherri), Hortonville; and Jim (Angie) Greenville; sisters: Louise (Richard) Malouf, New London; Joan (Jack) Kuhnke, Greenville; Ruth (Jim) Flannery, Shiocton; Pat (Bruce) Learman, Hortonville; and Kathy (Rick) Phillips, Bear Creek; and a former sister-in-law, Robin Fassbender, Bear Creek. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Tom is preceded in death by his father, Elmer, father and mother-in-law, Bill and Delores Hawley; step father-in-law, Donald Peterson; and a nephew, Jesse Krause.
Funeral Mass for Tom will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 11 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville, Fr. James Feely will be officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Residence and the Heartland Hospice for all their care and concern of Tom.
Even though we lost bits and pieces of you along the way, you never lost your sense of humor or your ability to smile. We will miss you "Dad." See you again one day; we love you,
