Biography:
JOHN WITTLIN is a native of Wisconsin, having been born in the town of Germantown, Washington county, December 31, 1845, a son of Burkart and Catherine (Degen) Wittlin. Burkart Wittlin was born March 7, 1813, near Basel, in Switzerland, and came to the United States in 1844. He bought a farm in the town of Germantown, Washington county, Wisconsin, where he resided until July 4, 1864, when he moved to Outagamie county, Wisconsin, and bought a farm comprising 320 acres of wild land, near the present residence of his son John, in the town of Center. On this farm he built a log house, 20x36 feet, in which he resided until his death, July 12, 1878. Mrs. Catherine Wittlin, also a native of Switzerland, was born near Basel, October 16, 1816, and died on the homestead in Outagamie county, February 27, 1893. To this honored couple were born four children, John being the oldest, all of whom are living. John Wittlin was reared to farming pursuits by his father, and was educated at the district school in his locality, and the German and English Academy in Milwaukee. On November 26, 1870, he married Miss Catherine Durick, daughter of Michael and Nora (O'Brien) Durick, natives of Limerick, Ireland, both of whom died near the residence of our subject, the father at the age of sixty-four and the mother when sixty-five. Miss Catherine Durick was born in Ozaukee county, Wisconsin, April 14, 1848, one of a family of five children, four of whom are still living.
To John Wittlin and wife have been born eleven children, of whom two died young: Michael J., born June 15, 1876, died September 17, 1876; Peter J., born June 20, 1885, died September 19, 1886. The others were born as follows: Catherine H., December 30, 1871, married Peter Nussbaum, of Ellington; Mary E., December 22, 1872, married Herman Frahm, of Grand Chute; John B., June 5, 1874; Margaret A., August 29, 1877, married John Casey, of Ellington; Emma A., August 13, 1879, married Robert O'Brien, of near Royalton, Waupaca county; Jane S., November 6, 1880; James F., June 22, 1883; Helen C., September 4, 1887; and Florence G., October 2, 1893 .
The mother of these children, after a short sickness and an unsuccessful operation at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, in Appleton, died October 28, 1910, and was buried in Ellington. She was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Stephensville.
Mr. Wittlin, after his marriage, at once settled on his present farm, given to him by his father, his father giving each of the sons a tract of eighty acres, and here he has ever since been engaged in mixed farming, in which he has met with the good success his skill and industry deserve. In politics he is a member of the Democratic party, and cast his first presidential vote for Horatio Seymour in 1868. He has won the entire confidence of his fellow citizens. He has served as town clerk for eighteen years, district school clerk for forty years, and chairman of the town board two years. For twenty-two years he has been, and still is, one of the directors of the Farmers' Home Mutual Insurance Company. During five years he served as postmaster at Wittlin. Throughout his life, whether in official positions or private interests, Mr. Wittlin has displayed integrity of character and force of purpose that has gained for him an enviable reputation among his fellow townsmen .

John Wittlin, 75, one of the earliest pioneers of the county, died Thursday noon at his home, 1178 Packard street. He was born at Germantown, near Milwaukee, and moved to the town of Center 56 years ago, where he made his home until 4 years ago when he removed to Appleton. He is survived by seven daughters and two sons, Mrs. Herman Frahm, Greenville; Mrs. John Casey, Stepensville; Mrs. Robert O'Brien, New London; Mrs. James Makens, Britton, South Dakota; Sister Myra C.F.A., Fond du Lac; Mrs. Peter Nussbaum and Miss Nellie Wittlin, Appleton; John Wittlin, Menominee Falls; and James Wittlin of Center. He is also survived by three brothers, Burkart, Julius and Arnold Wittlin of this city. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Brief funeral services for the late John Wittln, Sr., will be held at 8 o'clock Saturday morning from the residence, 1178 Packard street. The body will then be conveyed to St. Patrick church, Stephensville, where the Rev. Edward Schimberg will have charge of the burial rites. Burial will be at St. Patrick cemetery.

Mrs. Katherine Nussbaum, 88, Greenville, died Saturday, 2:00 a.m. after lingering illness. She was born December 30, 1871, in the town of Center. She resided most of her life in the town of Ellington. Mrs. Nussbaum was a member of the Christian Mothers society.

For the past 20 years Mrs. Hardy had lived in the Appleton area. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton, the Third Order of St. Francis, and the Christian Mothers Society. Nussbaum, Wilbur “Pete”Wilbur “Pete” Nussbaum, age 94, died Friday, April 15, 2005. He was bo rn on December 20, 1910 in the Town of Ellington to Peter and Catherine (W ittlin) Nussbaum. On June 1, 1939 Wilbur married Pearl Reimers. She preced ed him in death on January 30, 1961. He farmed in Hortonia several years b efore moving to Appleton. On March 4, 1976 he married Lorraine (Beschta) W inkenwerder and moved to Hortonville. He worked at Fox Tractor until retir ing in 1975. Wilbur was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the K nights of Columbus and a former volunteer fireman in Hortonville. He w as a very loving caring person. Dad's life was St. Mary's Church and School, where he spe nt 25 years providing warm, clean classrooms and meticulously maintain ed an historic church. Florence G. (Casey) Gabriel, age 90, of Hortonville, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at New London Family Medical Center. Florence was born on April 19, 1918, in Ellington Township (Outagamie County), daughter of the late John and Margaret (Wittlin) Casey. On August 6, 1952, she was united in marriage to Herbert Gabriel, he preceded her in death in 1988. She worked at the Hortonville Toy Factory for 29 years.
Florence was a longtime member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic church in Hortonville and was a member of the Christian Mothers.
She is survived by three daughters: Margaret (Don) Parker, Hortonville; Donna (R.J.) Immel, Greenville; and Anna (Gary) Krueger, New London; two sons: Charles (Lucy) Lautenschlager, Hortonville; and Gene (Virginia) Lautenschlager, Hortonville; sisters-in-law: Ricky Casey, Marcella Casey, Dorothy Krueger and Evelyn Uhlenbrauck. Florence is further survived by twenty-one grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Florence is preceded in death by six brothers, two sisters, a son-in-law, Robert Immel and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Funeral Mass for Florence will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009, at 11 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville, Fr. James Feely and Parish Director Greg Layton will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

She married Robert Helms on September 12, 1942 at St. Patrick Church, Stephensville; Robert preceded her in death in 1995. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Ruth L. Komp, Age 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2014 at St. Joseph Residence in New London. She was born on March 19, 1922 in the Town of Center, Outagamie County, daughter of the late James and Margaret (Lippert) Wittlin. Ruth married Harold "Bud" Komp on November 3, 1943 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Stephensville. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1993.
Ruth's greatest joy in life was her family. She and Harold created a wonderful home environment for their five children. She greatly appreciated the many visits from her family during her stay at St. Joseph's.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Susan and James Himmelspach, Crystal Lake, IL; Nancy and John Biese, Stephensville; Ann and Steve Calnin, Hortonville; two sons: Bill Komp, Stephensville; Robert Komp (special friend Janet), Appleton; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters: Gertrude Helms, Rosemary Stadler, Joyce (Wayne) Pierre, Joan (George) Pritzl, and a brother: Robert (Dottie) Wittlin; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rosemary (Wittlin) Stadler, age 91 of Beldenville, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on October 24, 2017.
Rose was born on March 3, 1926 in Center, WI., to James and Margaret (Lippert) Wittlin. On April 12, 1945, Rosemary was united in marriage to Gerald Stadler in Stephensville, WI., and together they were blessed with eleven children. Rose and Jerry lived 25 years in Little Chute, WI., and moved to Hudson, in 1972 with 5 of their 11 children. She was a kind and genuine person who never complained even when she was in pain. Family came first for Rose and she cherished her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly.
Rose is survived by her children, Bob (Barb) Stadler, Betty Dunsmore, Joe (Sandy) Stadler, Jim (Sharon) Stadler, Diane Stadler, Shirley Stadler, Karen Stadler, Linda (Shawn) Rivard, Bruce Stadler, and Brian (Wendy) Stadler; 29 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joan Pritzel; brother, Robert (Dotty) Wittlin; sisters-in-law, Donna Reyneabeau, Mary Stadler, Marilyn (Jim) Ebben, and Doris Stadler; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Joyce Pierre died peacefully on June 8, 2015, at the age of eighty-four at the home of her daughter Marie Koch. She was born on June 13, 1930, in the Town of Center, Outagamie County, Wisconsin, the seventh child of eight to James and Margaret (Lippert) Wittlin. She attended Sunnyside school, a one room schoolhouse, as the only child in her class. She graduated as salutatorian of the Shiocton High School class of 1948.
On June 14, 1950 she married Wayne F. Pierre at St. Patrick's Church in Stephensville, Wisconsin. After marriage, Wayne and Joyce lived and worked in North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Fond du Lac and Appleton, WI. In 1968, Wayne and Joyce moved from Appleton to Leeman, WI to own and operate Pierre's Store. In 2004, they retired and sold the business. Since that time, they have lived in Black Creek, Wisconsin and most recently lovingly cared for in Menasha, Wisconsin at the home of their daughter Marie (Craig) Koch.
Joyce is survived by her husband Wayne and their six children/spouses: Wilfred (Virginia) Pierre, Marie (Craig) Koch, Amy (Brian) Brownson, Laurie (Ralph) Fernandez, Peter (Allyson) Pierre and Jeremy (Nicole) Pierre. Sixteen have cherished her as their grandmother: Wayne (Sara) Pierre, Nicole (Lance) Hill, Susan (Kevin) Meyer, Donald Pierre, Monica (Matt) Coenen, Eric Koch, Meredith (Shiloh) Besaw, Theresa (Ross) Frey, Emily Brownson, Claire Fernandez, Joe Fernandez, Eva Fernandez, Grace Bennett-Pierre, Gabriel Pierre, Augustus Pierre and Neville Pierre. In addition Joyce is survived by ten great grandchildren: Lydia, Caleb, Ruth and Rachael Pierre, Jonas, Isaac, Johanna, and Chloe Hill, and Joel Frey. There are two more great grandchildren on the way. She is further survived by her sisters Rose Stadler, Joan (George) Pritzl, brother, Bob (Dottie) Wittlin, sisters and brothers-in laws, Winnifred (Jerry) Wittlin, Nathalie Steede, Perry (Carol) Pierre and numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by an infant son Jason, four siblings, seven in-laws and two nephews.
Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was happiest when the family gathered around her table and she would never let anyone go hungry. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had plenty of wit and wisdom to get her through life, in addition to a little Irish spunk.
Visitation will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Navarino, Wisconsin, on Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will continue at the church on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass to celebrate her life at 11 a.m. with Fr. Elaine Kohl, age 91, of Appleton passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born February 2, 1924 in Appleton, to the late George and Edna (Nussbaum) Lippert. On November 23, 1944, Elaine married Earl Kohl and they shared 48 wonderful years together before his passing on March 17, 1993. They owned and operated their farm in the Town of Grand Chute, and were long time members of St. Edward Catholic Church in Mackville. Her family meant the world to her, and she looked forward to every opportunity to be with her children and their families.

He was born on July 31, 1926 in Appleton, son of the late George and Edna (Nussbaum) Lippert. He was proud to serve our country with the U.S. Army. On April 22, 1950 he married Marian I. Schroeder in Ellington, their marriage was blessed with 4 children and 61 wonderful years before Marian preceded him in death on July 23, 2011. Ken was employed by Kimberly Clark Corp. for nearly 40 years. Ken was a quiet man, very kind, and he loved taking walks and driving in the country.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Richard (Karen) Lippert, Neenah; Shirley (Randy) Gerrits, Appleton; Marilyn (Ralph) Stadler, Oshkosh; daughter-in-law, Darlyn Lippert, Neenah; grandchildren: Kurt Lippert, Angela Hemmerling, Kristi Gerrits, Andy Gerrits, Emily Nast, Ross Lippert; 7 great grandchildren; sisters: Ethel (Alvin) Steinberg, New London; Betty (Joe) Boyle, Appleton. In addition to his parents, and his beloved wife, Marian; Ken was preceded in death by his son, Robert Lippert; granddaughter, Sara Stone; brother, Roy; sisters: Agnes Kohl, Elaine Kohl, and Helen Besaw.
The Funeral Service for Ken will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Heaven Mausoleum at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Ken's name.

Clarence J. Diermeier, age 78, of Black Creek, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2008, at Cherry Meadows with his family by his side. He was born September 6, 1930, to the late Anthony and Mary (Nussbaum) Diermeier in Jackson, Minnesota. On August 7, 1951, he was united in marriage to Ethel Last. Clarence was employed with Center Valley Co-op for 44 years retiring in 1994. He then worked for his sons at Black Creek Hardware and Service. In 1997, he started working three part-time jobs: one for Outagamie County as a Court Bailiff, another for the City of Seymour, and his favorite, for Johnson's Hardware in Shiocton.
He was a member of the Town of Center Fire Department serving for over 40 years. He was a 4-H Leader and also served on the Center Valley Credit Union Board. Clarence was also a member of the, Black Creek Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and St. Edward Catholic Church in Mackville.

Marjorie Ann Kramer, 81, of Black Creek, died Thursday December 9, 2016 at Rennes Nursing Home. She was born in the Town of Ellington on June 19, 1935, daughter of the late Anton and Mary (Nussbaum) Diermeier. Marjorie married John Kramer on August 20, 1957.
Marjorie and John were members of St. Edward Catholic Church, Mackville. She loved to garden, whether it was growing flowers or vegetables, she took great pride in her gardens. Marjorie enjoyed giving her vegetables to friends or even strangers who were in need. She was always willing to share with others. Marjorie was also very good at cooking and baking, her caramels were almost world famous. She loved to travel. Marjorie, John and their six children took an Alaskan cruise for their 50th wedding anniversary. It was a very special trip for her. Marjorie enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was walking along the creek, or helping her son Tom build his large snow houses in winter. Her greatest enjoyment came from time she was able to spend with her family, especially her grand children and great-grand children.
Marjorie is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, John; their six children: Thomas, Black Creek, Sharon (Mark) Hess, Greenville, Lawrence, Appleton, Donald, Black Creek, Jean (Chris) Graetz, Clintonville, and Jeffrey, Hortonville; three grand children: Megan (special friend, Ben Van Driel), Rachel, and Eric Hess; two great-grand children: Grace and Carson Van Driel; three sisters: Lois Klika, Alice Van Dyke (special friend, Ed), and Dorothy (Alvin) Kramer; brother: James (Jackie) Diermeier; and two sisters in-law: Ethel and Nancy Diermeier. Jerome A. "Jerry" Diermeier, 68, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013. Jerry was born on December 24, 1944 to Tony and Mary (Nusbaum) Diermeier in Appleton.
He married Susan Sager on October 16, 1965 and she preceded him in death on April 8, 1996. On August 22, 1998 he was united in marriage to Nancy Schaffer and they spent many wonderful years together. Jerry worked at Appleton Papers until his retirement in June of 2004 and was a member of the Century Club. He enjoyed fishing in Canada, playing cards, farming, gardening, listening to polka music, traveling, bird watching, cross word puzzles and reading. Jerry was also an avid Packer fan and enjoyed the winter especially snow blowing whenever he could.

He was born on November 15, 1925, in the Town of Menasha, the son of John N. and Catherine (Frahm) Sturm. John honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953, during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Kathleen LeBouton on November 12, 1955, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Menasha. John was employed with Kimberly Clark for over 40 years, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed gardening and going on rides with his sweetheart, Kathy.

Jerome worked at Consolidated Paper Mill for approximately 30 years, until 1982, and witnessed the construction of the College Avenue bridge. His goal was to see the completion of the new bridge. He also held multiple part-time jobs, the last of which was at Lieber Lumber.
Jerome loved his 12 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and visiting neighbors young and old on his scooter. Jerome also enjoyed summers at Pelican Lake with his family and friends, spending time in Wild Rose at his summer home, and then becoming a Snow Bird in Arizona for the winters. He and his jokes and pranks will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held Thursday March 5, 2009, at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 2 p.m. until time of Funeral at 5 p.m. Committal St. John Cemetery.

Gerald Joseph Hoier, age 87, of Hortonville, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at his residence. He was born on November 28, 1929, Thanksgiving Day, in the Town of Ellington, son of the late Raymond and Marion (Casey) Hoier. And as Gerald always said, his mother was thankful ever since. Growing up, Gerald worked on the family farm, then ran his own farm and also worked in construction. He joined the Labor Union Local 330, where he was a proud member for 64 years. On May 10, 1958, Gerald married Rose Young at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bear Creek. Together they had six children. He enjoyed snowmobiling, visiting with family and friends, and was a good story teller. Gerald was a charter member of the Polar Bear Rider Snowmobile Club where he marked the trails for 44 years. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville.
He is survived by his wife Rose; children: Donna (Gary) Weiland, Donald (Bonnie) Hoier, Dan Hoier, Gerald Hoier Jr. and special friend Tracy, Sue (Bob) Quella, Beth (Rob Stiles) Hoier; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Obituary:
Leo C. Hoier, age 78 of Hortonville, died peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, September 27, 2015, at St. Joseph Residence in New London.
Leo was born in Hortonville, WI on July 23, 1937, the son of the late Raymond Sr. and Marion (Casey) Hoier. On December 2, 1956, Leo married Nancy A. Buskirk in Hortonville, WI. She preceded him in death in 2005. Leo was an active member of St. Patrick's Parish, Stephensville.
Leo will be dearly missed by his children, Dennis (Sharon) Hoier, Therese (Randy) Relien, and Peggy Hoier; grandchildren, Christy (Jody) Doering, Amanda (Adam) Schopp, Timothy Relien, and Jennifer Hoier (fiance Dan Furman); and great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Alexia, Carter, Trenton, Jillian, and Aspen. He is further survived by a sister, Ruth Young; brothers, Ronald (Jerri) Hoier, and Gerald (Rose) Hoier; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Leo is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; and brothers and sisters.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Stephensville, WI. Family and friends are invited to visit directly at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at both St. Joseph Residence and Heartland Hospice for their tender care.

Virginia Mae Gorges, age 84, New London passed into the Lords loving care on Saturday, June 28, 2014.
Virginia was born September 10, 1929, to Clarence and Irene Casey in Stephensville. She was raised on the family farm, attended school at a very young age, and worked alongside her father in his local garage business there. She graduated from Shiocton High School and went to work in Appleton, where she met the love of her life. On August 12, 1950, she married Marlin Gorges at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Parish in Hortonville. After living in a very small apartment in Stevensville and home in Appleton they moved to the Town of Caledonia to raise their family.
Ginny is survived by two daughters, Chris (Kevin) Jones, Sherry (Tim) Yandre; four sons, Chuck (Jane) Gorges, Jeff (Sue McBurney) Gorges, Greg (Julie) Gorges and John Gorges, all of New London; a son-in-law Dennis Koeppl, Hortonville; a sister Mary (Wayne) Kaim, Lodi; a brother, Lee (Georgie) Casey, Appleton; her beloved 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and near future additions. She is further survived by in-laws, Marcia (Rod) Seefeld, Delton (Judy) Gorges, Art (Noni) Gorges, Doug (Janice) Gorges, Phyllis, Pat, Bette Gorges and Joyce Woldt, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Marlin, daughter Debbie, stepmother Delores Casey; in-laws, Laurence, Victor, Roland, Vernon, Junior, Leland, and Lyle Gorges; Edith and Harold Johnson, Norma Jean and Gene Grunwald.
She will be sadly missed by her caregiver RaeAnn (Jeff) Kalbus, best friend Lil Ruckdashel, her very special Arizona and New London friends and her Rainbow family.
Funeral Mass for Ginny will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Church, New London with Fr. Joseph Irudamoney officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's cemetery, Town of Caledonia. Visitation will be held at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home on Monday, June 30, 2014, (TODAY) from 4-7 p.m. and also at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation will be made to the Relay For Life (New London) in memory of Ginny and Marly Gorges and Debbie Koeppl.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff of ThedaCare Hospice and Father Joseph of Most Precious Blood Church.

Leo Fred Casey, 67, Larsen, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at his home after a long battle with smoking-induced COPD.
Leo was born July 26, 1946, to Leo J. and Fredrika (Lutz) Casey. He grew up in Appleton working at his parents' store, Casey's Junction Grocery, at Outagamie and second Streets. He graduated from Xavier High School in 1964 and earned an Associate's Degree in data processing from Fox Valley Tech in 1966. Soon after, he enlisted in the US Army, where he served until 1969, including a tour in Vietnam and time at Fort Ord, CA, where his father had been stationed during WWII.
After his honorable discharge, Leo reconnected with the former Rose Coffey in Milwaukee where they married in 1970. They returned to Appleton so Leo could continue his education, working full time and earning his Bachelors in Business Administration from UW-Oshkosh in 1977.
Leo started as an accountant with American Can, ultimately working at its Menasha ink plant, which would become M&T Chemicals. Promotions led him to Mobile, AL, in 1980, to help open a new manufacturing facility. He worked for M&T and its successors in Mobile until 1990, when the family returned to Appleton and Leo joined the JJ Plank Corp. He retired as the company's Vice President of Finance & Information Systems in 2008. In retirement, Leo enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family (especially his new baby grandson, Bryson), and many a laugh with his fun-loving neighbors in the Boom Bay area.
Survivors include his mother, Fredrika Casey, Appleton; children: Brian (Cheryl) Casey, Greenville and Caron (Todd) Clements, Neenah; one grandson, Bryson; two step-grandchildren: Cyrus and Stella; brothers and sisters: Patrick Casey, Appleton; Meg Casey, Appleton; Kathy Casey (Glenn Bechler), Appleton; Beth (Doug) Bucholtz, West Bloomfield and Steve casey, Seymour; former wife and friend, Rose Casey; nieces and nephews: Anne, Kelly, Kelena and Mark; two great nephews: Owen and Leonardo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo J. Casey.
According to Leo's wishes, there will not be a funeral service. A celebration of Leo's life will take place in the spring. A memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Drs. Robert Nonn and John Swanson, and the caring staff of ThedaCare at Home Hospice. We'd also like to thank Dad's Boom Bay neighbors who spent time with him and helped take care of him for several years.

Charles E. Lautenschlager, age 76, Hortonville, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at his residence. Chuck was born on August 3, 1937, in Mackville, WI son of the late Edgar Lautenschlager and Florence & Herb Gabriel. He was united in marriage to Lucille Moeller on November 7, 1959, in Black Creek. She preceded him in death on October 1, 2012. He was a car enthusiast. Chuck was a construction millwright and was employed by Hennes and C.R. Meyer. Chuck served his country in the US Army from 1959-1962. He enjoyed 13 years of retirement and enjoyed spending winters in Texas.

Charles Earl Kohl, age 69, of Grand Chute, passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 7, 2017. Charlie was born on May 2, 1948, son of the late Earl and Elaine (Lippert) Kohl. He grew up on the family farm in Grand Chute and graduated from Appleton West High School. Before Charlie entered the United States Army Reserve, he worked at Miller Lumber. On February 25, 1985, he married Sandra Nemecek, in a ceremony in Texas. Together they owned Ace Asphalt. After 25 years of business, he closed the doors on his asphalt company and decided to join Trico Excavating as a driver, where he retired from.
Charlie was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting with his family, friends, and Rusty his beagle. He also enjoyed spring fishing on the Wolf River with his family and spending summers at White Clay Lake. Above all, he enjoyed the time he shared with his family and friends. Underneath a face that rarely smiled was a generous, compassionate and loving man.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 32 years: Sandy Kohl; their two sons: Pete and Danny (Mariah Jahnel) Kohl; his siblings: Janice Steffens and Ronnie (Sue) Kohl; his siblings-in-law: George "Butch" (Sharon) Nemecek, Diane (Martin) Penney, and Donna (Mike) Harp. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister: LeAnn "Leo" (Chuck) Mader, and his nephew: Joe Kohl.
The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 West Marquette Street. Leann M. Mader (Kohl), 58 years, entered the Heavenly Kingdom, May 22, 2017 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born March 22, 1959 to her parents Earl G. and Elaine C. (Lippert) Kohl in Appleton, Wisconsin. Leann was a graduate of Appleton West High School. In November of 1988 Leann and Charles Mader Jr were married in Reno, Nevada. Together they brought a daughter, Jennifer, into this world and shared thirteen years of marriage until his death in 2001. Leann was a faithful employee of J.J. Keller for over 22 years.
Leann loved to travel and camp, going to many destinations including Yellowstone National Park, Black Hills National Park, Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, and many other campsites in Montana. She prepared canned fruits and vegetables in winter months to store for camping. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina was the warm weather destination, sharing time with her family. Her travels brought her to destinations such as Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and Grand Cayman, British Virgin Islands and locally to campsites in Mountain and Crandon, Wisconsin. She was known to collect snowmen at various craft fairs especially in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Nothing made her happier than returning to her loved ones at home, especially her granddaughter, Aubrey and watching the Packers.
Leann will be sorely missed by her daughter Jennifer (Andrew) LeRoy, granddaughter Aubrey, siblings Janice Steffens, Charles (Sandy) Kohl, and Ronald (Sue) Kohl. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Resurrection Mass for Leann will be on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11 am at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 Pine St., Appleton. Fr. Dennis Ryan presiding. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and friends may gather at St. Bernard on Friday, from 9 am until time of Mass.

Robert L. Lippert, age 62, Neenah, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 following a five year battle with Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia. Bob was born June 16, 1951, the son of Kenneth and Marian (Schroeder) Lippert.
Bob graduated from Neenah High School, class of 1969. He married Darlyn Lemke on April 7, 1979. They lived together in Denver, CO, for 10 years before moving back to Neenah. Bob retired from Appleton Papers after 19 years of employment.
Bob loved camping, fishing, the Packers and the Denver Broncos.
Survivors include his wife, Darlyn; two children: Emily Rae (Brandon) Kiefer, Ross Michael Lippert; a grandson, Liam Robert Kiefer; his father, Ken Lippert; a brother, Dick (Karen) Lippert; and two sisters: Shirley (Randy) Gerrits, and Marilyn (Ralph) Stadler. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother.

DOVER, Del. - The death Monday of Army Sgt. Nikolas Mueller of Little Chute in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan was a loss for the country as well as his family, President Barack Obama told Mueller's parents, brother and sister-in-law on Thursday.
Obama met individually with Mueller's family and the relatives of 14 other deceased U.S. soldiers at Dover Air Force Base, Del., in a visit to the base where fallen Americans are returned to the United States.
Mueller, 26, was the helicopter's crew chief, said Elizabeth Lahti of Appleton, whose daughter, Stefanie, is married to Mueller's brother, John.
Mueller will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., alongside a fellow soldier killed earlier in the war, Lahti said.
A memorial service is being planned for early next week at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Combined Locks.
Following his visit, Obama said losses like those sustained on Monday are "something I think about each and every day.
"It was a sobering reminder of the extraordinary sacrifices that our young men and women in uniform are engaging in every single day, not only our troops, but their families as well."

MILWAUKEE - A Wisconsin Army sergeant was aboard a helicopter that crashed in Afghanistan this week, killing him and nine other Americans, his parents said Tuesday.
Sgt. Nickolas A. Mueller, 26, of Little Chute was a member of the U.S. Army's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment and a crew chief on a Chinook helicopter.
Mueller died doing what he loved and left behind a family and girlfriend who are intensely proud of his sacrifice, parents Larry and Sharon Mueller told The Associated Press in a telephone interview.
"This was something that he wanted to do, that he needed to do," Larry Mueller said. "We were behind him 100 percent."
The Pentagon said the helicopter crashed Monday while returning from the scene of a firefight with suspected Taliban drug traffickers. In a separate crash Monday, four more troops were killed when two helicopters collided over southern Afghanistan.
U.S. military officials insisted neither crash was believed a result of hostile fire, although the Taliban claimed they shot down a U.S. helicopter in the western province of Badghis. The U.S. did not say where in western Afghanistan its helicopter went down, and no other aircraft were reported missing.
The Defense Department did not immediately confirm that Mueller was on board. But Mueller's parents said they were awoken just after midnight Tuesday by three fellow members of the 160th regiment.
"We had a feeling all day because Nick did not call," Sharon Mueller said. "I went to bed thinking, 'No news is good news, Nick's OK.' Then there was the knock on door."
She paused and then exhaled.
"I'll never forget them three guys standing on my porch," she said softly. "I thought Nick would never die."
Nick Mueller always wanted to be a fighter pilot, the mother said. Even when he was little he decorated his room with a military theme, including pictures of fighter jets.
If there were any doubts about his career plans, they were erased by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
"He wanted in and we supported him," Sharon Mueller said. "A mother always wants to feel her children are safe, but I supported him because Nick wanted that. I thought to myself I would never let him know how afraid I was."
Mueller was outgoing and gregarious, someone who enjoyed debating with his teachers, his mother said. If he had something to say, he would say it, she said.
He graduated in 2002 from Little Chute High School, where he played football and ran track. But his mother said it was in wrestling that he excelled - dominating an opponent who outweighed him by 55 pounds during one matchup.
Sharon Mueller said her son would be buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. She said it was too early to say when memorial services would be held.
"Nick always thought of other people. With him everybody came first," she said. "He was a very, very giving person. I think that's what people will remember."

LITTLE CHUTE - A Fox Valley soldier has lost his life in Afghanistan. Sergeant Nickolas Mueller of Little Chute died Monday when the helicopter he was in crashed also killing 9 other people on board.
Mueller's family says he had re-enlisted in the Army twice. Mueller's father said his son was a soldier above all. His mother says he was very proud, loved what he did, and loved life. She also says he always loved helping people and was "one of a kind."
Mueller was 26 years old, had been in the army for 5 years, and had planned to stay for life. He was part of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment . He was crew chief, and planned to become pilot of a Chinook helicopter.
His family says he died Monday when his helicopter went down in Afghanistan. The Pentagon has yet to officially confirm Mueller was aboard, but says a helicopter crashed while returning from the scene of a firefight with suspected Taliban drug traffickers.
Sgt. Nickolas Mueller grew up in Little Chute and graduated from Little Chute High School in 2002. According to his mother, in school he liked to debate with the teachers, and she proudly noted he was the homecoming king. She also says since grade school, Mueller had planned to join the army.
Mueller's mother also says he hadn't been home for Christmas since joining the army, but had planned to be home this Christmas.
Funeral details are not available yet, but plans are are for Mueller to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery , his mother said that is what he wanted.

Sgt. Nickolas A. Mueller, formerly of Little Chute, age 26, died Monday, October 26, 2009, in Afghanistan. He was born in Appleton on June 21, 1983, to Larry and Sharon (West) Mueller. Nick graduated from Little Chute High School in 2002. While there, he participated in the wrestling, football and track programs. Nick also played saxophone with the Little Chute High School Band and was in the choir and drama club for 2 years. He was voted Homecoming King in 2001. Nick enlisted in the Army on June 27, 2004, to pursue his love of flying and was stationed at Hunter Air Field in Savannah, Georgia. While his first love was flying, Nick also enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
Nick was loved by everyone. He always put others first.
Nickolas is survived by his parents, Larry and Sharon Mueller of Little Chute; brother, John (Stefani) Mueller, Combined Locks; special friend, Heather Huckett; niece and nephew, Audrey and Jaxon; maternal grandparents, Henry "Bud" and Jeannine West; and uncles and aunts: John Mueller, Barb (Vaughn) Knuth, Anne (Rollie) Kiesow, Donna Kohls, Joe (Nat) West, Linda Gleason and Mike (Dawn) West. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.
Nickolas was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Nickolas and Julia Mueller; uncle, Richard Kohls; and infant aunt, Shirley West.
Visitation will be held at LITTLE CHUTE HIGH SCHOOL (1402 Freedom Rd.) on Saturday, November 7, 2009, from 10 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. The funeral will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Timothy Krick officiating. After the funeral, full military rites will be conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258. Committal Arlington National Cemetery. Mueller's body was returned to the U.S. following a helicopter crash that killed him and nine others Monday in Afghanistan.
Mueller, of Little Chute, was returned to Dover Air Force base in Delaware. He will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery after a memorial service in Savannah, Ga., for the fallen soldiers of 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, which is based at Hunter Army Air Field near the coastal Georgia city.
In addition to the soldiers killed in the crash that claimed Mueller's life, four others who were killed in a separate helicopter crash Monday also were returned to U.S. soil, and Obama met privately with relatives of each of those killed.
"The president talked to each of the families, saying he was very sorry for their loss, but that this loss was also a loss for the country and the country mourned their son's passing," said Elizabeth Lahti of Appleton, whose daughter is married to Mueller's brother.
Lahti's daughter, Stefanie, and her husband, John, accompanied Mueller's parents, Sharon and Larry Mueller, to Dover Air Force Base.
Lahti said Nickolas Mueller's unit, also known as the Night Stalkers, provides helicopter aviation support, mostly at night, for special operations forces. Five of the seven soldiers killed in Monday's crash were Night Stalkers, Lahti said.
The three others who died were Drug Enforcement Agency agents.
The crashes Monday that killed 18 Americans made it the deadliest day for the U.S. in Afghanistan in four years.
Obama's trip to welcome home the fallen was not announced. He landed in a U.S. Marine Corps helicopter and immediately strode to the chapel where the grieving families awaited the arrival of their loved ones.
After his visit to Dover, Obama said losses like those the country suffered Monday are "something I think about each and every day."
"It was a sobering reminder of the extraordinary sacrifices that our young men and women in uniform are engaging in every single day, not only our troops, but their families as well," Obama said.
Obama is in the midst of a review to determine the course of U.S. strategy in Afghanistan. At least 815 members of the American military have died in Afghanistan or neighboring countries as a result of the invasion in late November 2001.
The Defense Department has not publicly released the names of those killed in the helicopter crashes. Lahti said relatives were told the names are being withheld pending positive identification of the remains.
The crash that killed Mueller was caused when the helicopter, flying in poor visibility caused by dust from its blades, hit a structure, according to a Web site operated by the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force in Afghanistan.

LITTLE CHUTE - Thousands of people came to Little Chute High School on Saturday to honor fallen soldier Sgt. Nickolas Mueller in a six-hour visitation and funeral.

Mueller, 26, a Little Chute native and member of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, was killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan Oct. 26.
On the sunny, warm day that was more a glimmer of summer than late fall, Mueller was remembered as a funny, outgoing man who worked hard, loved being a soldier and was entirely selfless.
The percentage of the crowd who knew Mueller, his parents or extended family appeared great.
"Most of them we do know," said Mueller's mother, Sharon. "But then some come up and say, 'You don't know me, but we just have to be here.'"
"The strength you get from the people coming through is unimaginable," said Larry Mueller, Nick's father.
Women arrived with plates of homemade bar cookies, covering four large tables in the school's cafeteria. Even the high school wrestling club, one of Mueller's passions, sent a floral arrangement.
The line of those who wanted to express condolences stretched the length of the field house. In the last hour, the line doubled, extending past the doorway emblazoned with the motto "Accept your limitations, then go beyond" to the school's front doors.
It appeared the entire village of 11,000 people was in mourning. Even if they didn't know him personally, he was treated like a brother, friend or son.
"If one is lost, they're lost to everybody," said Pat Nagan, of Appleton, a member of the Patriot Guard Riders, who didn't know Nick Mueller personally. "It's a local boy done good. He was the kind of son any parent would want."
The riders group was formed by veterans to show support to families who lose loved ones. "We have lost over 100 now in Iraq and Afghanistan from Wisconsin," said senior ride captain Michael Weaver, of Kaukauna.
Mueller's father, Larry, also a Patriot Guard Rider, was grateful to see riders come out in full force and hold flags by the high school's entrance. "Whenever I did this, I knew it meant something. But being on this end of it … they'll never know what they actually mean."
Mueller praised Friends at the visitation praised Mueller's selflessness.
"He was the shirt-off-his-back kind of guy," said Michael Sherwood, of Combined Locks, remembering his friend since sixth grade. "He was there for you when you were down. Everybody should know him. He's the friend you'd want to have."
Mueller's girlfriend Heather Huckett flew in from Savannah, Ga., to meet the Mueller family for the first time this past week.
"He was probably the funniest guy I ever met," she said. "He had a really big heart. He loved with his whole heart."
They'd met in Savannah when she visited her little brother who was in the same Night Stalkers military unit as Mueller.
"The first time I met him, all he said to me was he liked my potato salad," Huckett remembered. She said she had an immediate crush on him and moved to Savannah. "I asked him out," she recalled.
Even though she knew he was doing what he wanted to do, the loss is devastating.
"We had so many plans," she said. "You don't expect this when you're young."
Governor visits
Gov. Jim Doyle came to speak privately with the Mueller family before the visitation started at 10 a.m. Saturday.
"He said how sorry he was and how close it hit," Sharon said.
After that, the steady stream of people didn't let up until the funeral started at 4 p.m. against the backdrop of a two-story American flag, bagpiper and Little Chute High School choir. It began with a silent procession of veterans, police, soldiers from the 395th and 21 members of the Little Chute Fire Department. Staff Sgt. Caleb Baugh, of Savannah, Ga., choked back tears as he gave a eulogy commemorating his friend's sense of humor and hard work.
Rev. Tim Krick, of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Combined Locks, pointed out that a Facebook page honoring Mueller had 1,500 members sign up in a matter of days.
"This tells you everything you need to know about Nick. He cared for others and others cared for him."
At the end, with the waning light of the day, Mueller was honored with military rites conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 of Little Chute, which included a three-volley salute, taps and a folded flag presented to his mother.
Mueller's remains were not in Little Chute, but will be laid to rest Nov. 16 at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., according to his wishes. Online condolences may be sent through oconnellfuneralservices.com.

Thomas P. Murphy, age 49, Clintonville, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017, at his residence in the presence of his loving family, following a one year illness. He was born on January 1, 1968 in New London the son of Patrick and Diane (Fischer) Murphy. Tom was a 1986 graduate of New London High School. He attended Fox Valley Technical College where he studied printing and publishing. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Schuldt on October 29, 1988 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lebanon. Tom was employed at Menasha Corp and recently at Murphy Family Farm. He enjoyed home brewing, wood working and single track bicycling.
Tom is survived by his wife Kathryn; children, Jonathan Murphy; Anna (Jesse) Sabel; and ETN2 Kieran Murphy; grandchildren, Davin and Evelyn; parents, Patrick and Diane; siblings: Joe (Wendi) Murphy; Gina (Jason) Dreier and Mary Murphy. Terry's life journey ended with his family at his side on Monday, February 6, 2017. Even though he is gone from the earthly world, we find comfort in knowing his suffering is over.
He was born in Little Chute on March 10, 1951, son of Jerome and Marie "Mickey" Miller. On March 2, 1973, he was united in marriage to Rosa "Linda" Shuckhart, who preceded him in death in 2003.
Terry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing immensely, but his primary joy in life was spending time with and teasing his 2 granddaughters. Terry had a passion for solving puzzles and any brain teasing games he could get his hands on. He grew up and attended school in Little Chute, served in the army during the Vietnam War, and was later employed by Thilmany Paper Co. Terry was the type to always be there to lend a helping hand when family and neighbors needed it, especially with outside work.
Surviving family members include his very loving and supportive daughter and son in law; Terry "Squeaky" and Jason Braeger; his mother, Marie "Mickey" Miller; his granddaughters: Marissa Braeger and Brianna Braeger, all of Kaukauna. Jack A. Hoier, age 52 of New London, passed away at home with his loving family around him on Sunday, January 13, 2013.
Jack was born on May 30, 1960, in New London, WI the son of Eugene & Joyce (McKeever) Hoier. Jack worked at the canning factory (Larsen Co., Dean Foods, and Agrilink) in Hortonville for over 20 years. He started there when he was 16 years old as a seasonal worker and after 4 years was hired on full-time as a canning floor foreman. Jack was promoted and then worked as canning floor supervisor until the factory closed in 2000.
Jack had a love for the outdoors, hunting and fishing. About 4 years ago hunting and fishing were to be no more. The horrible disease, rheumatoid arthritis had taken over, and then recently, Jack was diagnosed with yet another disease, cancer. Jack very seldom would ask for help and never complained about his disease. He said it is what it is. Jack was always willing to help others with anything.
Jack is survived by two sons, Stephan (Tracey) and Brian (fiancé Jen Dickey); grand children, Abigail, Joshua and Caileigh Hoier; brother, Gary Hoier; and sister, Julie (John) Szablewski. Jack is further survived by several nieces and nephews, Tony, Jamie, Brandon and Kurt Hoier, Sean Chad and Chelsea Szablewski; long-time special friend, Diane Baumgart; and many other relatives and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene & Joyce Hoier; brother, Michael; niece Kimberly Hoier; grandparents; many aunts, uncles and also best friend, Warren Baehman.
A very special THANK-YOU to his niece, Chelsea for all the care she gave him during his last several weeks without her some of us would have been lost on what to do. Also the family would like to THANK Affinity Hospice Nurses, St. Joseph's Nursing Home and St. Elizabeth Hospital for there help and care of Jack.

Jerry D. Pleshek, age 30, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 3, 2011. He was born February 7, 1981, in Appleton son of Daniel and Diane (Stadler) Pleshek.

Sara Marilyn Stone, age 37, of Appleton, passed away peacefully Friday morning November 6, 2015, at the Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, surrounded by her family and faithful pug "Jinx", after a courageous 2 ½ year battle with cancer. She was born February 8, 1978, in Neenah, the daughter of Randy and Shirley (Lippert) Gerrits.
Sara graduated from Menasha High School, with the class of 1996. Following high school, she attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. On March 20, 2004, Sara married Brian Stone on the beach in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Sara began her working career with Thrivent Financial in Appleton. She then went to work for Miles Kimball Company in Oshkosh, before accepting a position with the Nielsen Company as a computer programmer.
