    Harke, Lyle R.
    Lyle Harke, 75, Menasha, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center in Menasha. Lyle was born in Kimberly on Feb. 24, 1932, son of the late Otto and Marie (Smits) Harke. Lyle was an outstanding high school athlete, excelling at football, basketball, baseball and track. As an adult, Lyle spent a lot of time on basketball; he played on the Kimberly Recreation Association's traveling team for many years, and also was known for officiating area basketball events. Many will also remember him as a Packers fan, a Chicago Cubs fan, and a pretty fine dancer as well. For over 30 years, Lyle was employed by Appleton Papers at the Appleton Mill, and was a member of the Quarter Century Club there. Lyle was also currently the owner of the Just 1 More Bar on Valley Road in Menasha. He was a devoted family man who cared very much for his family, extended family, and many friends.
    He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Diane Harke, Menasha; two children, Tom (Sue) Harke, Oneida; and LeaAnn (Ed) Steenis, Appleton; five grandchildren, Jason Harke, Heather Harke and her fiance, Nick Schwartzbauer, Holly Harke, Thomas "Tommy" Harke, Jr., and James Steenis; one great-granddaughter, Ava Harke. There are also many survivors in Diane's family. They include her children, Amy Malueg, Darboy; and Andrea Liebhauser, Neenah; five step-grandchildren, Katie Liebhauser, Andrew Felzer, Abby Liebhauser, Ashley Lenz, and Courtney Malueg; two step-great-grandchildren, Patrick Juneau and Nathan Malueg; as well as many nieces and nephews. Lyle also has four brothers, Robert (Shirley) Harke, Kimberly; Allen (Phyllis) Harke, Appleton; James (Jean) Harke, Kimberly; and Glenn (Sharon) Harke, Anoka, Minn.; and a sister-in-law, Bev Harke, Kimberly.
    Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Elwood.
    Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. At 5 p.m. Monday, the Rev. Ronald Meier, of Trinity Lutheran Church, Menasha, will conduct a service at the funeral home. Visitation will resume after the service. A memorial fund in Lyle's name is being established.
    The family would like to thank the caregivers from Oakridge Gardens as well as Heartland Hospice for the compassionate and caring way they handled all of us. Thank you so much. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
    Lyle was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

    Heather M. Schwartzbauer, 28, Kimberly, passed away at home, surrounded by her family and friends, on Friday, May 7, 2010, after a valiant battle with Neuroendocrine Cancer. She was born in Appleton on Feb. 4, 1982, the daughter of Tom and Sue (Martin) Harke. On Jan. 26, 2008, she married her beloved husband in Appleton, Nicholas Schwartzbauer. Heather was a customer service manager for Wolfmark. She was very fond of the outdoors including: spending time at her parent's cabin on Boulder Lake, swimming, jet-skiing, time on the pontoon boat, four wheeling, playing volleyball and basketball, having camp fires and roasting hotdogs and marshmallows, snowboarding, traveling and going on cruises. Heather will be fondly remembered for her baking and cooking, her love of her husband, snuggling with and reading to her daughter, Ava (her Snuggle Bunny), and her special dog, Jade.
    Heather is survived by her husband, Nick, of Kimberly; beloved daughter Ava; parents: Tom and Sue Harke of Freedom; brothers: Jason Harke of Greenville and Tommy (fiancee, Nikki Wyngaard) Harke of Greenville; sister, Holly (special friend, Andy Van Zeeland) Harke of Freedom; grandmothers: Gertrude Martin of Kimberly, Marian Brazier of Appleton, and Mary Schwartzbauer of New London; father and mother-in-law, Dave and Sue Schwartzbauer of Neenah; brothers and sisters-in-law: Mike (Sue) Schwartzbauer of Larson, Kris (Julie) Schwartzbauer of Menasha and Ann (Jeff) Herman of Greenville; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers; Lyle Harke and Philip Martin.
    The funeral liturgy will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, Kimberly Campus, 600 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly, with Fr. Ken Frozena officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass.
    The family extends a special thank you to Affinity Hospice team, especially Jackie and Jen, the doctors and nurses at UW Hospital in Madison, and the staff at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology, for their compassionate and wonderful care.
    A memorial fund in Heather's name is being established.
