Born in Little Chute on February 5, 19 17 to the late Martin and Mary (Van Domelen) Van Gompel. She was marri ed on May 28, 1938 to James A. Schroeder, who preceded her in death on Oct ober 17, 2000. In addition, she is preceded in death by their son, Robe rt and 11 Van Gompel siblings.Ann is survived by her daughters: Janet (Lorin) Krause of Appleton and D eb (Al) Reilly of Ettrick, WI; brother, Elmer (Joyce) Van Gompel of Applet on; sister, Verone Gloudemans; seven grandchildren, along with great grand children, other relatives and friends.As a Christian believer, Ann passed into the next life with the knowled ge that she would be with the Lord, as well as reunited with her husban d, Jim; son Bob, and the other family members who have gone before her.Ann was well known for her cooking skills; along with our father, they mai ntained a simple hospitality that was always welcoming to friends and fami ly. Honest, kind and caring, Mom touched the lives of others with her pu re heart.The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, March 26, 2005 at 12 p.m. at Calv ary Chapel, 2136 E. Newberry St., with Pastor Steve Shepard officiating. T he visitation will be on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the ti me of the service.     See Image Van Gompel, Richard R. Little ChuteAge 83, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2002, at Parkside Care Center wi th his family by his side. The son of the late Martin M. and Mary (Van Dom elen) Van Gompel, Richard was born September 10, 1918 in Little Chut e. He married Dolores Zornow on July 8, 1943. Rich worked at Badger Northl and, Kaukauna for 23 years and retired in 1981. He served four years in t he 82nd Airborne Division during World War II. He loved music and played t he accordion in several bands throughout his life. He also sang in a barbe rshop quartet for many years. He was a member of St. John Catholic Churc h, Little Chute; the American Legion Jacob Coppus Post, Little Chute and t he VFW.Richard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores; two daughters: Barba ra (Jerry "Pat") Elliott; Lisa Van Gompel (friend Theo Andersen); three so ns: Steven (fiancee Phyllis Paul), Carl (Barbara) and Mark (Pam); 12 grand children: Julie (Alan) Huss, Craig (Sue) Elliott, Matthew (Jamie) Elliot t, Gail (Jon) Steidl, Abby, Luke, Pete, Ben, Sara, Christine, Jacob and Ka la Van Gompel; four great-grandchildren: Amy, Tonya and Joseph Huss, and A ubrey Steidl; a brother, Elmer (Joyce) Van Gompel; sisters: Verona Gloudem ans and Angeline Schroeder; sisters-in-law: Vera Van Grinsven, Jane Revoi r, Harriet and Ruth Van Gompel; and brother-in-law, Marrinus Wyngaard.     Veronica "Verona" Gloudemans, 93, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016. Verona was born in Appleton on March 10, 1923 to the late Martin and Mary (Van Domlen) Van Gompel. She was the youngest of 14 children. Verona married Ted Gloudemans at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. She and Ted lived in Kimberly before moving to Kaukauna. Verona was a member of St. John Parish and the National Catholic Forester.
    Verona is survived by two daughters; Judy(Jan) Albers, and Pat (Mike) Weiland, a daughter-in-law Helen Gloudemans, eight grandchildren; Gina (Matt) Ruys, Rick (fiancée Diane Thompson) Albers, Tammy (Carlos) Gonzalez, Renne (Zach) Price, Katie (special friend Josh Mocarski) Weiland, Tracy (Matt) Boeing, Kelly (Mike) Horn and Kari (fiancée John Demers) Jahnke, great grandchildren; Kristin Ruys, Mitchel Ruys, Erin Ruys, Katie Ruys, Brandon Horn, Justin Horn, Skyler Gonzalez, Electra Gonzalez, Trystan Gonzalez, Nevaeh Price, Livian Price, and Nora Boeing, her in-laws; Maureans and Lola Vanden Wyngaard.

    Lawrence Plach, 78, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 31, 2010, with his family at his side following complications from Alzheimer's at Brewster Village. He was born on August 14, 1931, in Appleton, the son of the late John and Rose (VanGompel) Plach. Butch married Roberta Weyenberg on February 3, 1951, at St. Therese Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on March 31, 1987. On April 28, 1988, Butch married the former Betty (Kumrow) Getsfried at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
    He was the proud owner of Butch's Auto Body. Butch was the founder and past president of Fox Valley Auto Body Association. He enjoyed the time up north with family and friends. Butch loved his home and was always there to give a helping hand.
    He is survived by his wife, Betty Plach, Appleton; three daughters: Becky (Bob) Fickel, Appleton; Betsy (Steve) Wolfe, Shiocton; and Dolly Miller, Appleton; two sons: Dan (Lisa) Getsfried, Appleton; and Steve (Jackie) Getsfried, Black Creek; nine grandchildren: Angie (fiance Jason) Fickel; Chrissy (Dave) Belau and Katie Fickel; Steven (Gina) Golliher and Charles Golliher; Robert Miller; Tyler and Cassidy Getsfried; Kennedy Getsfried; six great-grandchildren: Arik, Emma, Austin, Issak, Eden and Kaeden; two brothers: Rudy (Nancy) Plach, Hortonville; and John (fiancee Betty) Plach, Appleton; two sisters-in-law: Marian Plach, Appleton; and Bonny (Bob) Nemecek, Green Bay; brother-in-law, James (Ethel) Weyenberg, Neenah; and special cousin, Charles (Mary) Plach, Wautoma.     The funeral liturgy for Butch will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 N. McDonald Street, Appleton. Fr. Gerald Falk, Fr. Dave Belongea and Fr. Charles Brooks will be officiating. A visitation will be held TODAY at the Wichmann Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. The prayer service will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Brewster Village are appreciated.

    Van Gompel, Robert J. "Gumps" 73, Little Chute, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at his home with his family by his side following a courageous battle with lung cancer and Alzheimer's. He was born Aug. 6, 1934, in Little Chute, son of Martin and Ardena (Verbeten) Van Gompel. He attended school at St. John's and joined the Army in 1953. He was stationed in Japan and then served in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1956. Bob was a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute and the VFW Post #3319, Kaukauna. On July 9, 1968, Bob married his soul mate Lorraine. He worked for Thilmany for 10 years and in 1967, he joined the Village of Little Chute Street Department and was employed there for 30 years.
    Bob is survived by his wife, Lorraine; his children, Jackie Wettstein, Peggy Christel, Sue (Roger) Sabel, Hope Van Gompel, David Wettstein and Mike (Gina) Van Gompel; his sisters and brothers, Joan Johnson Seymour, Sharen (Tom) Wolf and Kathy Van Gompel, all of Little Chute; Paul (Kathy) Van Gompel, Medina; Martin (Dace) Van Gompel, Waupaca; sisters-in-law, Carol Pingel, Gresham; Melinda (Gene) Taylor, Bradley, Ill.; Rose Mary (Robert) Deshand, Bourbonnais, Ill.; brothers-in-law, Jack (Stephanie) Eldred, Manitowoc and Roger (Shirley) Eldred, Chilton. Bob is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
    During summer months, Bob loved to go to his land in Gresham and during winter months, he loved to go to his home in Winter Haven, Fla.
    The family would like to thank Kathy, Terri and Jordan along with Theda Care at Home Hospice for being there when Bob needed them. Thanks to Bev and Leo Decoster for all their help. A thank you to Gretchen, Chris, Hope, Peggy, Nicole and Bill ... we could not have done it without you.
    Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Fr. Jim Hablewitz officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the church from 4 p.m. Thursday until the time of the Mass. Military honors will be performed by members of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258 and the VFW Post #3319, Kaukauna at the church following the Mass.
    A memorial has been established for the Theda Care at Home Hospice.

    Kathy D. Van Gompel, 67, of Little Chute, passed away Monday, December 9, 2013, at her home. She was born July 19, 1946, daughter of the late Martin and Ardena (Verbeten) Van Gompel. Kathy lived her life to the fullest, and always had herself a good time. She loved shooting pool, playing softball, working on puzzles, bowling, skiing and she was an avid reader. She enjoyed watching the Packers and Brewers and loved to travel, especially up to the family cottages. Kathy's group of friends, "The Hens" were inseparable. They did a lot together and she will be truly missed.
    Kathy owned and operated "Kathy's Kut 'N' Kurl", in Appleton, for many years and had a special place in her heart for all of her "Ladies" from the shop. Kathy's nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews were so very special to her, and they will all miss their favorite aunt Kathy.
    Kathy is survived by her siblings: Joan Johnson, Martin "Todd" Van Gompel, Sharen (Tom) Wolf and Paul (Kathy) Van Gompel; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Van Gompel; nieces and nephews: Rick, Randy, Cheri, Julie, Brenda, Marty, Holly, Dave, Lee, Karen, Katie, Josh, Gabe, Mike, Hope, David, Susie and Peggy; many special great nieces and nephews; her Godchildren: Carrie Peeters, Lee Wolf, Julie Johnson, Chuck Romenesko, Amanda Scheuler and Jared Johnson; two aunts: Lilian Ruckdashel and Veronica Gloudemans; and many other family members and dear friends.
    Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Karen Van Gompel; a brother, Robert Van Gompel; a sister-in-law, Dace Van Gompel; a brother-in-law, Richard "Nig" Johnson and a great niece, Emma Bork.
    Memorial services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Inurnment will be at St. John Cemetery, next to her sister, parents and grandparents. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
    The Van Gompel family would like to extend a special thank you to Judy Diedrich, Susan Romenesko, and the staff at Verkuilen Funeral Home for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
    One of Kathy's favorite sayings was, "I'm fine!", and we now know that she truly is.

    Marvin F. Huss, Kaukauna, age 77, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Thursday, August 6, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on the family farm in Freedom on April 18, 1938 to the late Oscar and Mayme (Van Gompel) Huss. Marv married Audrey Baer on April 8, 1961 at St. Mary's Parish in Hilbert. He retired from Thilmany Pulp and Paper, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club, in April of 2000 after 42 years of service. Marv was an avid outdoorsman, hunting with the boys from Freedom. He also enjoyed yardwork and anything else that took him outside. Marv could be found tinkering with small engines and doing puzzles and followed the Packers and Brewers.
    Marv was a proud grandpa and loved to share news of his grandkids with family, friends and anyone else he happened to run into.
    Marv is survived by his wife of 54 years, Audrey; daughters: Debra (Wayne) Frederickson of Kaukauna and Dawn (John) Wulterkens of Darboy; grandchildren: Erica and Brandon (special friend Katelynn) Frederickson and Aubrey and Marissa (special friend Jake) Wulterkens; and siblings: Donald (Elaine) Huss, Ardena (Arthur) Retzlaff and Thomas (Susan) Huss. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to his parents, Marv was preceded in death by his infant sister Linda Lou; Audrey's parents Math and Madella Baer; and niece and Godchild Jennifer Retzlaff.

He will be remembered for his enjoyment of huntin g, fishing and snowmobiling.     Barbara J. Hartwig, 55, Janesville, died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville. She was born in Appleton, on March 19, 1956, the daughter of James and Marion (Mirkes) Plach. Barbara married Kenneth J. Hartwig on April 19, 1975, in Appleton. They moved to Janesville in 1975, and she began her employment at Gilman Engineering in 1977.
    She worked in various capacities at Gilman from print room clerk to traffic manager, a position she held at the time of closing in 2008. Barb was proud of her achievement of graduating from Blackhawk Technical College with her Associate degree following her career at Gilman. She loved spending time with her family at the cottage on Dutch Hollow Lake near LaValle, as well as bowling, golfing and organizing many functions at Gilman. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
    She is survived by her husband, Ken, Janesville; son, Paul (Cheryl) Hartwig, Janesville; two grandchildren, Scott and Kaylee Hartwig; step-granddaughter, Reba Weihert; her mother, Marion Plach, Little Chute; three sisters, Karen (Bob) Riley, Little Chute; Pat (John) Segura, Oshkosh; and Diane (David) Schumate, Naples, Fla.; mother-in-law, Janet Hartwig, Monroe; brother-in-law, Robert (Marcia) Hartwig, Janesville; sister-in-law, Christine Hartwig, Burnsville, Minn.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her father, James Plach; brother, Michael Plach; and sister, Jean Plach.
    A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville, with Fr. William Nolan officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, 1800 E. Racine St., Janesville.     Ottman, Jesse "Goat"Jesse Ottman, age 25, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 9, 2006, in Mi lwaukee. Jesse was born in Neenah, to Joseph Ottman and Jennice (Van Gompe l) Tiedt. He was working for CTI Paper, and enjoyed hunting and fishing wi th his dad, baseball, frisbee golf, video games and fantasy football. He l oved to spend time hanging out with friends, family and his girlfriend, Am anda. He also held a special place in his heart for his pets, Diamond, h is black lab, Keyoke, his Macaw and Kali, his new kitten.
