    Plach, James J.James J. Plach, age 76 died peacefully at his home in Bonita Springs, Flor ida on Sunday, March 6, 2005. Jim was born June 7, 1928 in Little Chut e, to the late John and Rose (Van Gompel) Plach. He was employed at Applet on Papers, Appleton for 42 years and was also a member of the Quarter Cent ury Club. On May 21, 1949 he married Marion Mirkes in Appleton. He enjoy ed hunting and fishing and spending his summers at the “Gingerbread Hous e” in Post Lake, Wisconsin. In retirement, JP was proud of his involveme nt in the Barbershop Chorus and the Computer Club at Southern Pines, his h ome in Florida.He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marion Plach, Bonita Spring s; four daughters: Pat (John) Segura, Oshkosh; Barbara (Ken) Hartwig, Jane sville; Karen (Bob) Riley, Little Chute; Diane (David) Shumate, Naples, Fl orida; seven grandchildren: Amy, Tim and Christopher Melchoirs,Christine Plach, Paul Hartwig, Brad Riley and Samantha McClain; four great -grandchildren: Adam, Scott, Kaylee and Reba. He is further survived by h is brothers: Butch (Betty), Rudy (Nancy) and John Plach and a brother-in-l aw, Robert (Lee) Mirkes.He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Her bert and Beatrice Mirkes and two children: Michael and Jean Plach.The funeral service will be Saturday, April 2, 2005 at St. Thomas More Cat holic Church, 1810 McDonald St., Appleton at 11 a.m. with Fr. Gerald Fa lk officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church from 9 a. m. until the time of the service.

    Lawrence Plach, 78, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 31, 2010, with his family at his side following complications from Alzheimer's at Brewster Village. He was born on August 14, 1931, in Appleton, the son of the late John and Rose (VanGompel) Plach. Butch married Roberta Weyenberg on February 3, 1951, at St. Therese Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on March 31, 1987. On April 28, 1988, Butch married the former Betty (Kumrow) Getsfried at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
    He was the proud owner of Butch's Auto Body. Butch was the founder and past president of Fox Valley Auto Body Association. He enjoyed the time up north with family and friends. Butch loved his home and was always there to give a helping hand.
    He is survived by his wife, Betty Plach, Appleton; three daughters: Becky (Bob) Fickel, Appleton; Betsy (Steve) Wolfe, Shiocton; and Dolly Miller, Appleton; two sons: Dan (Lisa) Getsfried, Appleton; and Steve (Jackie) Getsfried, Black Creek; nine grandchildren: Angie (fiance Jason) Fickel; Chrissy (Dave) Belau and Katie Fickel; Steven (Gina) Golliher and Charles Golliher; Robert Miller; Tyler and Cassidy Getsfried; Kennedy Getsfried; six great-grandchildren: Arik, Emma, Austin, Issak, Eden and Kaeden; two brothers: Rudy (Nancy) Plach, Hortonville; and John (fiancee Betty) Plach, Appleton; two sisters-in-law: Marian Plach, Appleton; and Bonny (Bob) Nemecek, Green Bay; brother-in-law, James (Ethel) Weyenberg, Neenah; and special cousin, Charles (Mary) Plach, Wautoma. Butch is further survived by his buddies, Teddy and Harley; nieces, nephews, other relatives, former employees and many friends.
    He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Plach.
    The funeral liturgy for Butch will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 N. McDonald Street, Appleton. Fr. Gerald Falk, Fr. Dave Belongea and Fr. Charles Brooks will be officiating. A visitation will be held TODAY at the Wichmann Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. The prayer service will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Brewster Village are appreciated.
    The family would like to thank Fr. Falk for his devoted dedication to Butch. Also, the excellent caring staff at Brewster Village for their loving care and concern, and for allowing the window to be open for the angels to come in.

    Barbara J. Hartwig, 55, Janesville, died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville. She was born in Appleton, on March 19, 1956, the daughter of James and Marion (Mirkes) Plach. Barbara married Kenneth J. Hartwig on April 19, 1975, in Appleton. They moved to Janesville in 1975, and she began her employment at Gilman Engineering in 1977.
    She worked in various capacities at Gilman from print room clerk to traffic manager, a position she held at the time of closing in 2008. Barb was proud of her achievement of graduating from Blackhawk Technical College with her Associate degree following her career at Gilman. She loved spending time with her family at the cottage on Dutch Hollow Lake near LaValle, as well as bowling, golfing and organizing many functions at Gilman. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
    She is survived by her husband, Ken, Janesville; son, Paul (Cheryl) Hartwig, Janesville; two grandchildren, Scott and Kaylee Hartwig; step-granddaughter, Reba Weihert; her mother, Marion Plach, Little Chute; three sisters, Karen (Bob) Riley, Little Chute; Pat (John) Segura, Oshkosh; and Diane (David) Schumate, Naples, Fla.; mother-in-law, Janet Hartwig, Monroe; brother-in-law, Robert (Marcia) Hartwig, Janesville; sister-in-law, Christine Hartwig, Burnsville, Minn.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her father, James Plach; brother, Michael Plach; and sister, Jean Plach.
    A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville, with Fr. William Nolan officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, 1800 E. Racine St., Janesville.
