    Obituary:
    Theodore J. Birling Sr., age 88, of Clintonville, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013, at Pine Manor Health Care following a short illness with his family by his side. On May 31, 1925, Theodore James was born to the late Henry and Matie (Mielke) Birling. He graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School and following graduation, he took on the family tradition, along with his father of dairy farming and distribution of milk products, known as Birling's Dairy. In the early 1960's, he became a distributor for Morning Glory Dairy due to requirements in how milk needed to be processed. He took a small dairy business and developed it into a distribution of six surrounding communities. Ted transitioned from being a milk product distributor to become a welder for Badger Northland. In 1978 he moved to Clintonville with his wife Dorothy and children and started dairy farming. At the age of 63 he became semi-retired from farming. One of Ted's favorite parties, along with his wife, was the Labor Day Chicken Booyah Sunday. There was always lots of food, drink, and friendship. Anyone was welcome to join the festivities. Some of Ted's favorite hobbies were bowling, baseball, hunting, and fishing, particularly ice fishing. When ice fishing had started on Lake Winnebago, the word on the lake was "Follow the blue van if you want to catch fish." He also loved playing cards, especially Sheepshead and Cribbage. He loved playing and teaching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to play Caroms.

    In addition to Ted's parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary (Stuck) Birling; his second wife, Dorothy (Helein) Birling; infant daughter, Lori Birling; son, Peter Birling; great-grandson, Derek Schmitt; son-in-law, Dick Kohanski; daughter-in-law, Patt (Griffin) Birling; step-mother, Anna (Wittmann) Birling; siblings: Annabel (Andy) Sprangers, Lucille (Clarence) Noffke, Agnes (Jack) Ahlquist, Baby Henry Howard Birling; and numerous relatives and friends.
    The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, December 6, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street in Menasha with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. The visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the hour of the Mass at the church. Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in the Town of Menasha. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to Terry and Brenda Birling for taking care of our father and grandfather for the past 12 years, as well as the staff at Pine Manor and Dr. Beth Gillis - everyone was so caring and kind to Ted and his family. It was very much appreciated.
