Okay, now the explanation of these data. Op 7 April 1860 a Maria Broeks was born to Johannes and Gertrui Broeks - van Handel in Merselo, Venray. Althought the year is wrong, this must by Sister Charitas Brooks. The date is right. Jan and Gertrui Broeks - van Handel did not have more than 3 children. In the Bevolkingsregister we can see this. This register was an on-going census-like-register. In my attachments it is called DBR……. These registers were large books which would be renewed every 20 years from 1860 on. It contains data about the people living in the town, but also where en when they came from and where en when they went to. But in the begin-times people were not always very accurate in maintaining it.
What I found for Jan Broeks and his family so far.
24 April 1848: Jan Broeks came from Oploo to Merselo. He was a carpenter en lived with Peter Kersten and his wife Hermina Rongen. Address: Wijk L. Merselo, housenumer 510. See: DBR Broeks Johannes Venray 1848-1950 Merselo.
14 April 1849: Jan moved to number 487 in Venray. Source: DBR Broeks Johannes Venray 1848-1950 Merselo. This source also mentioned that he married in 1849. No name of his wife was mentioned in this source.
Johannes Broeks and his wife Gertrui van Haandel lived in Wijk L, Merselo dorp, housenumber 487. He was born in Oploo Dec 08, 1824 en she also in Oploo (not true) op Nov 06, 1824. Jan Broeks, carpenter en shop owner, will publically sell his house, garden, etc. in Merselo address Kleindorp. He also sells some land in Venray. The sale will take place in the pub of the widow Rongen called 'Op de Thomas' in Merselo.
Johannes Arts, hired hand at the Widow Poels in Merselo, buys it for fl. 1.850,-.

The notary will publically sell movable property of Jan Broeks. This was at December 7 in the house of Jan Broeks in Merselo at 13.00 hours.
First the conditions of the sale are mentioned and on page 2 en further all the property is written with the price it was sold for. And who bought it. Interesting to see what people had and how much it costed. Some examples:

Basically he sold all his carpenter tools and tools to work on the land. I did not see any furniture besides 2 closets. Nor clothes (they probably took it with them) or cooking tools and cups and plates.

Now Jan Broeks sells the rest of his belongings he can't take with him. Like a bed, pots, a cow, lamps, ironer, pans and other kitchen stuff. And also 'porcelein' which means cups and plates. It seems to me as these items were still in use till they actually emigrated.

On the front of Sister Charitas picture (as sister) it says she was born as Mary vandenBroek in 1854 in Oploo (this is in Brabant). The back side just mentions North Brabant (Brabant) as birth place. Not Beltrum???
Between april 1 and april 21 there was no child born in Oploo.
In 1849 Jan and Gertrui lived in Venray, in the Bevolkingsregister, which is an on-going proces no child other than those born in Venray are mentioned. So I think Sister Charitas is born in 1860 in Venray.

Schuh, Helen A.Helen A. Schuh, age 91, resident of St. Paul Home, Kaukauna, died on Mar ch 18, 2006. Daughter of the late John and Minnie (Josephs) Brooks, Hel en was born June 5, 1914, near Hollandtown in the Town of Woodville, Calum et County, where she lived until her marriage to Servanus L. Schuh on Janu ary 16, 1934. Helen and Servanus farmed 100 acres just north of Hilbert wh ere they started their family and worked many long and hard days. They lat er moved to Hilbert raising their family in a modest home with seven acr es of lawn and garden at the edge of town. After 63 years of marriage, Ser vanus passed away on September 19, 1997. Helen then moved into the Renaiss ance assisted living in Appleton and later to St. Paul Villa in Kaukauna w here she made many new friends.She is survived by her children: Earl (Janet) Schuh of Lake Panasoffkee, F la., and Allen (Linda) Schuh of Waukesha, Wis.; granddaughter Brenda (Scot t) Martin with great-granddaughters Micaela and Malia of Appleton; and a b rother Frank Brooks of Kaukauna.Helen was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter Mary Jane, age 1 6; grandson Tim Schuh, age 27; brothers: Lawrence and Leo Brooks; and sist er Harriet Lauer.Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at S t. Francis N. Brooks "Frank," Kaukauna, 89, died Tuesday July 11, 2006, at Ch erry Meadows. Frank was born on June 5, 1917, in Town of Woodville, s on of Adrian and Wilhelmina (Josephs) Brooks. He married Alice Thomps on on March 3, 1945. They were married for 21 years when she preceded h im in death on February 26, 1966. He married Irene (Lamers) Elrick on Ju ne 10, 1972, and they shared 25 years together until her death on Decemb er 2, 1997. Frank was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kaukauna, a nd also a member of The American Legion Post 258 in Little Chute. Frank w as drafted into the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served in the Aleutian Paci fic Islands conflict in Alaska until his honorable discharge in 1946. He t hen worked in Civil Service from 1946-1951. After that, he moved back to K aukauna with his wife and family and started a long career at Thilmany, wh ere he worked as an electronics technician for 28 years, retiring Octob er 29, 1979. Frank went to St. Francis School in Hollandtown but never fin ished 7th grade. He was a cheesemaker at White Clover Dairy and made Ameri can and Gjetost (goat cheese). He managed a 220-acre farm that today is st ill in the Brooks family. Frank was always learning everything he could, h is thirst for knowledge was great. He took many courses throughout his lif e. At Valparaiso University he took classes in electronics and at Berkele y, CA, courses in radio and circuitry. Other trades that he enjoyed as hob bies include blacksmith, electrical electronics, woodworking, instrumentat ion, stained glass (leaded & foil), industrial maintenance, TV repairs, la pidary, bee keeping, hunting, camping and fishing. He was the 1st one in h is family to drive the new '27 Model T at age 10. He also rode a bicycle a nd motorcycle forward and backwards. While serving in Alaska, Frank enjoy ed the wilderness of the "Last Frontier." He skied Mt. McKinley, fished f or salmon, hunted moose, Dall sheep and other game.
He is survived by two daughters and five sons: Susan (Paul) Datta, Greenvi lle; Ronald (Sally Hess) Brooks, Thomas (Debbie) Brooks of Kaukauna; Dav id (Sally) Brooks, Nancy (Scott) Kraft, Patrick (Cathy) Brooks of Menash a; Kenneth (MaryJo) Brooks, Milwaukee, 12 grandchildren, seven step grandc hildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 15 step great-grandchildren. Skell, Mary A.Mary A. Skell, 83, of Appleton passed away Monday, January 2, 2006, at Che rry Meadows Hospice following a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was bo rn June 10, 1922, in Forest Junction, the daughter of the late Henry and M ae (Brochtrup) Brooks. She has resided in the Fox Valley all of her lif e. Mary was employed as a nurse's aid at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 25 yea rs, retiring in 1980. She was united in marriage to Paul Skell September 1 7, 1947, sharing 45 years together before his death in 1992. Mary was a me mber of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and the Ladies of Sacred Heart. S he was an active volunteer and worked at the keen-agers Thrift Shop and di stributed communion at Manor Care. Mary served in the Navy Waves during Wo rld War II and was stationed at several Navy Hospitals on the east coas t. Mary will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother, and a wonderful h ousekeeper. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed the cruise with h er daughter Sue. Mary liked helping others and was always willing to he lp out.Survivors include a daughter Sue DeLain of Milwaukee; a son Robert (Sand y) Skell of Menasha; three grandchildren Chris DeLain of Oak Creek; Tim Sk ell of S. Adrian Michael Brooks, 87, Askeaton, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2012 at Theda Clark Hospice Residence, Appleton. He was born June 30, 1924 in the Town of Holland, WI., son of the late Henry and Mary (Brochtrup) Brooks.
Adrian started working at Kimberly Clark in Kimberly in 1946 retiring in 1987. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1943 - 1946. He served in the European Theater with the 395th quartermasters. As a coppersmith fabricated and repaired copper stove parts, tanks, coils, tubing, fittings and similar objects. He worked with steel and tin. He was a member of the American Legion Post 126 in Brillion.
He will be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters: Rose Ann (Fred) Ponschock, Appleton, Henry L. Brooks, Askeaton, Fr. Charlie Brooks, Appleton, Janet (Jake) Huber, Kewaunee, Betty (Marv) Rademacher, Wrightstown, Roger "Duke" (Alice) Brooks, Hollandtown; one sister-in-law, Judie Brooks, Combined Locks; one brother-in-law, John (Shirley) Kemkes Sr., Appleton, God daughter, Karla Buckley; many nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.

Rose Ann Ponschock, Appleton, passed on her 88th birthday in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. RoseAnn was born in Forest Junction on June 11, 1925 to the late Henry and Mary (Brochtrup) Brooks. On August 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Fred Ponschock who preceded her in death on February 5, 2013. The couple had enjoyed 66 years together. RoseAnn was a longtime and active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Appleton. She was a member of the Ladies of Sacred Heart, Sacred Heart Luncheon group, and Funeral Dinner Coordinator and also worked at the Sacred Heart Thrift Store. She worked at R. Sabee Co. for 25 years. RoseAnn was well known for her award-winning pies.
She is survived by 5 daughters: Mary Therese (Bruce) Epling, Houston, Sharon (Joe) Keyzers, Boulder Junction, Donna Ponschock, Appleton, Joan Ponschock, Appleton, and Debra (Brad) Meyer, Hilbert; a son, Ronald (Kathleen) Ponschock, Appleton, and a son-in-law, James Rathsack, Appleton; 10 grandchildren: Chad (special friend Terra) Ponschock, Seth (Heather) Ponschock, Jody (Mike) Kohlbeck, Adam (Kelli) Keyzers, Melissa Keyzers, Andy Keyzers, Travis (fiancée Ashlie) Rathsack, Spenser (Kelly) Rathsack, and Samantha and Nicholas Meyer; 7 great grandchildren: Aryah, Ellison, Gretchen, Adria, Julia, Hayden, and Christian; 4 brothers: Father Charles Brooks, Roger "Duke" (Alice) Brooks, Henry Brooks, and John (Shirley) Kemkes; 3 sisters: Janet (Jake) Huber, Judy Brooks, and Betty (Marv) Rademacker. Sister Mary Henry Brooks, 82, Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. She was born on Sept. 22, 1926, in Forest Junction, Wis., daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Brochtrup) Brooks. She entered the convent in 1953 and professed her vows in 1955. Sister Mary Henry served as a Homemaker at Holy Family Convent and St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc; St. Philip and St. Joseph, Green Bay; Sacred Heart Center, Oneida; Ozanam Home, New Berlin; San Damiano, Slinger; Catholic Memorial Convent, Waukesha; St. Willibrod, Chicago, Ill.; St. Francis, Petosky, Mich.; St. Nicholas, Zanesville, Ohio; and St. Mary, West Point, Neb. She also served as a Sponsor Representative at St. Paul Manor, Kaukauna.
After retiring from active ministry, she performed various tasks at the Motherhouse. Since 2008, she had been residing in St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Rev. Charles Brooks, Appleton; Adrian Brooks and Henry Brooks, both of Greenleaf; Franklin Brooks and Roger and Alice Brooks, all of Kaukauna; and Judie Brooks, Combined Locks; three sisters and four brothers-in-law, Fred and Rose Ann Ponschock, Appleton; Jacob and Janet Huber, Kewaunee; Marvin and Betty Rademacher, Wrightstown; and John Kemkee, Darboy. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Charles Brooks as celebrant and the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem., as concelebrant with burial to follow at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of t he Zoning Board of the Town of Holland at the time of his death at age 70. Dick was also a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Askeaton. When Dick was 16 he started working at Brillion Iron Works. He retired on September 1, 1988 after 42 years at Kimberly Clark Paper Mill/Midtec/Repap, where he worked in the materials department, he was a tractor trailer driver and a structural helper. Franklin William Brooks, 79, Hollandtown, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at Renaissance in De Pere.
He was born March 30, 1933 in the Town of Holland, WI, son of the late Henry and Mae (Brochtrup) Brooks. He graduated from Wrightstown High School in 1951.
Franklin married Janelle Hagerty on August 11, 1978; she preceded him in death on July 18, 1998.
He was employed at Badger Northland in Kaukauna for 42 years, retiring in February of 1994. He enjoyed his electronics, gardening, square dancing, Smuckers Jam, and spending time with the neighborhood kids.

Askeaton - Henry "Hank" Leo Brooks, 82, Askeaton, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born January 6, 1936 in the Town of Holland, WI, son of the late Henry and Mary (Brochtrup) Brooks. He was their 12th child of the 16 children they were blessed with.
He never married, but was a friend to all. His greatest love was music. He proudly owned over 3,000 vinyl albums of all genres that he listened to daily. He worked at Badger Northland until he retired. He proudly & obediently served in the U.S. Army. He lived in Askeaton his entire life where he played softball, belonged to St. Pat's Church, still got together with his childhood friends and grew old peacefully. Henry will always be remembered as a humble and kind man with a story to share.
He will be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters: Fr. Rosemary, age 82, of Appleton, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Brewster Village. She was born September 12, 1927, in Appleton, daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Brooks) DeJong. She was a graduate of Freedom High School. Following graduation from Kaukauna Normal, she taught at Woodside Elementary School. She married Kenneth Romenesko June 8, 1948, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, sharing 61 years together.
Rosemary was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and the St. Bernard Ladies Rosary Club. She volunteered at St. Therese and St. Piux X Catholic Schools; was President of St. Therese Ladies Society and did volunteer work at the church; she was a former member of the Fox Valley Golf Club and Butte Des Morts Country Club where she achieved a "hole in one" on the 5th hole. She was an avid Bridge player; a good seamstress; and enjoyed winters in Arizona where she met many friends. She always appreciated the many friends she made while living at Touchmark.
Rosemary is survived by her husband, Ken; a daughter and son-in-law: Sue and Jim Knapstein, Appleton; a son and daughter-in-law: Terry and Connie Romenesko, Neenah; two sisters: Betty Hietpas, Kaukauna; Ardene Welhouse, Kaukauna; a brother and sister-in-law: Frank and Joyce DeJong, Pound; five grandchildren: Kari (Landon) Schultz; Kelly (Steve) Sathre; Rebecca Bresser; Tyler Romenesko and Brady Romenesko; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert, and a brother, Corneal.

Betty A. Hietpas, age 84, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2015 with her family by her side. She was born to the late Jacob and Mary (Brooks) De Jong on November 4, 1930. She married the late Don Hietpas on August 19, 1953.
Betty enjoyed spending her retirement time in Eagle River with her husband before he passed away. She loved to bake, cook, play cards, and sing in the church and villa choirs. Betty was a member of Knights of Columbus with her husband and Fox Valley Golf Club. She was an avid bingo player. Betty loved watching sports, especially the Brewers and Packers. She enjoyed spending time with all of her family.

Ardene T. Welhouse, age 78, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 14, 1932, in Freedom to the late Jacob and Mary (Brooks) DeJong. On April 30, 1953, Ardene married Roland J. Geurts at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom. Together, they had four daughters. Roland preceded her in death in March of 1970 after sharing 17 years of marriage. In 1978, Ardene married Edward "Eddie" Welhouse at St. Aloysius Catholic Church; the union joined two families together. The couple enjoyed 30 years of marriage together prior to his death on December 7, 2008. Ardene enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, playing sheepshead and polka dancing. She was a wonderful seamstress. Ardene was a very active member of St. Aloysius Church being instrumental in the planning of funeral lunches, The Ladies VFW, Hospital Auxiliary, TOPS Club and the Catholic Knights.

Francis "Frank" W. DeJong, 77, passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2012 at Appleton Medical Center. Frank was born on January 11, 1935 to Jacob and Mary (Brooks) DeJong in Freedom. He graduated from the Freedom High School in 1952 and St. Norbert College in 1956 where he excelled in football. On April 25, 1970 he was united in marriage to Joyce Gogolewski, and they spent 42 wonderful years together. Frank was an accountant for several firms until his retirement in 2002. He was a co-founder of the Freedom Athletic Association and umpired many games in the Freedom area. Frank was an avid bowler, golfer and fisherman and a Packer fan. He also enjoyed playing cards and dominos. Most of all Frank loved spending time with his family and friends at the cottage in Pound or attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was also a volunteer at the Oconto Falls Hospital.
Frank is survived by his wife Joyce, three sons; Greg (Tracy) DeJong, Kaukauna, Jeff DeJong, Kaukauna, and Steven (Billie Jo) DeJong, Freedom, six grandchildren, Tia, Lili, Jayce, Kristen, Brittney and Danielle, a sister Betty Hietpas, brothers-in-law, Ken Romenesko, and Bob (Mary) Gogolewski, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings; Rosie Romenesko, Corneal DeJong, and Ardene (Ed) Welhouse, and a brother-in-law Don Hietpas.

Marion T. McNew, 73, of Conway passed away Monday (Dec. 24, 2007) at Conway Regional Medical Center.
She was born May 24, 1934, in Dundas, Wisc., to the late Michael and Delia (Driessen) Brooks.
Marion devoted her life to the care of children. She was a foster parent for countless children throughout her lifetime, sharing her love with each child. However, she took her greatest delight in caring for infants. In her later years, she was a foster mother for Catholic Charities Adoption.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Christian Ladies Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Royce McNew, an infant sister, Doris Mae Brooks, a brother, Bernard Brooks, and twin granddaughters, Theresa Ann and Mary Elizabeth Jones.
She is survived by her daughter, Molly J. Jones and husband Wesley of Conway; a grandson, Harrison Royce Jones; a sister, Margie Schmidt and husband Donald of Crivitz, Wisconsin; two sisters-in-law, Ann Naylor and Edith Moring, both of Conway; a dear friend, Arnold Reeves of Conway; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with interment following at McNew Cemetery in Greenbrier.

Robert O. Brooks, age 89 of Menasha, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015. He was born on January 10, 1926 to the late William and Helen (Miller) Brooks in the town of Rantoul, WI and later married Luella Moehn, who preceded him in death on June 4, 2002.
Bob attended St. Norbert's High School in De Pere and was a member of their Junior ROTC program. He then went on to work into his 20s on his father's farm until he began working at American Can, and retired from there after over 30 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a very active volunteer with the Boy Scouts and an avid Packer fan, having enjoyed many games as a season ticket holder.
Bob will be greatly missed by his three children: Joan (Mark) Christman; Alice Janssen; and Tomas (Jayme) Brooks; 10 grandchildren: Matt; John; Joe; Marie; Adam; Amy; Ann; Bryenna; Tara; and Kassy; as well as 18 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers, a sister, five brothers-in-law, 10 sisters-in-law, and many, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Bob was preceded in death by two of his brothers, Jerome and Gerald "Pete," his son-in-law, Michael Janssen; his grandson, Mark William Christman; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and nephews.

Howard B. Brooks, 87, Town of Holland, passed away peacefully October 13, 2017. He was born August 18, 1930 to the late William and Helen (Miller) Brooks. Howard lived in West De Pere where they had a family gas station until the age of twelve. The family moved to the town of Holland and started farming. He graduated Kaukauna Class of 49. Howard spent the rest of his life doing what he loved, farming. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Army as a cook. He married Shirley Griesbach. Howard enjoyed traveling, bowling, eating at 'the corner', and watching the Packers. Howard liked to meet people where ever he went with his "big" smile, his warm "Hi" and friendly personality.
He is survived by his children; Steven Brooks, Dennis Brooks, Linda (Rollie) Robertson, and Laurie (Duane) Vander Heiden. He is further survived by his grandchildren; Jennifer, Michael, Kevin, and Brian Vander Heiden, and his sister Delores Wojtczak, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Van Daalwyk, Eunice (Van Den Eng) Eunice Mae Van Daalwyk, age 86, a resident of Kimberly died peacefully on September 29, 2015 with her family by her side. Eunice was born on October 3, 1928 in Freedom to Peter J. and Elizabeth (Brooks) Van Den Eng. She married Robert W. Van Daalwyk at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom on October 9, 1948. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage.
Eunice graduated from Freedom High School in 1947. A year before she graduated she was employed at St. Elizabeth Hospital where she worked as a nurses aid before returning to high school and now at almost 87, she passed peacefully at St. Elizabeth. She told her children many stories of her time at St. E's. She had a very full life with her large family and many friends. Her home was always open to visitors. Eunice loved people and they loved her. Euny was known for her faith and sense of humor. Her children can attest to what a loving mother, devoted wife and great cook she was. Always on the go with her various activities whether it be playing Sheepshead, Bunco, or taking care of a friend - she lived every day to the fullest.
Eunice lived in Kimberly for 37 years with her husband, Bob. Together they built their retirement home on Lake Noquebay and moved there in 1985 and wintered in Arizona. Her children remember all the good times at the cottage. They were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Crivitz. Bob passed away on March 26, 2007. Eunice then moved back to Kimberly and belonged to Holy Spirit Parish.
Survivors are her daughters: Diane (Jim) Carpenter of Crivitz, Lori (Al) Verkuylen of Greenville, Lisa (Joe DeBruin) Sutta of Little Chute; sons: Dennis R. (Jane) Van Daalwyk of Menasha and Hollywood Beach, California, William P. (Cheri) Van Daalwyk of New Berlin, Robert J. (Hua Zhao) Van Daalwyk of Madison, Lee Van Daalwyk of Lake Havasua City, Arizona; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her siblings: Joy (Roy) Van Dyke, Marvin Van Den Eng, Floyd (Joan) Van Den Eng, Clarence (Millie) Van Den Eng, Ronald (Jenny Rice) Van Den Eng; sister-in-law, Kenice Van Den Eng; brother-in-law, Clarence Gerrits. Robert's brothers-in-law, Don Dorn, Larry (Billie Jean) Dorn, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded by her parents, her husband, Bob; sisters, Gladys (Lewis) Fravel, Evelyn Gerrits; brother, Eugene Van Den Eng; four sisters-in-law, Roberta Van Den Eng, Elaine Van Den Eng, Laverne Dorn and Dolores Dorn; grandson, Christopher Carpenter; brothers-in-law, Lewis Fravel, Herb Dombrowski; and nephew, Steven Dorn.
The funeral liturgy for Eunice will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at HOLY SPIRIT/HOLY NAME CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly. Fr. Bob Kollath will be officiating. Gerrits, Evelyn Ann (nee V an Den Eng)Evelyn Ann (nee Van Den Eng) Gerrits, 73, Little Chute, died peacefully Sa turday, July 17, 2004, at her home with her family by her side. She was bo rn Dec. 18, 1930, in Freedom, Wis., daughter of the late Peter and Elizabe th (Brooks) Van Den Eng. On May 13, 1950, she married Clarence “Whitey” Ge rrits. They spent 54 years of marriage together. Ev was known for her hone sty and her love for everyone. She loved spending time with her grandchild ren and a great grandson. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma and gr eat grandma. She will be sadly missed by all. Ev graduated from Freedom Hi gh School, Class of 1949. After graduation, she worked for Thilmany Pu lp & Paper in Kaukauna. She was a waitress for many supper clubs in the va lley and for the last few years, she was a tour hostess for different b us companies. She loved working with her special friend, Pat Bacon, for t he Freedom Alumni. She loved spending time at the cabin in Pembine, Wi s. Ev was a life member of the Kaukauna Lady Elks, Lodge No. 962. In her e arly years, she enjoyed golfing but most of all she lived for playing car ds and bingo at Oneida! She was known for her beautiful oil painting s. Eugene (Gene) V. Van Den Eng, 80, of Punta Gorda, FL and Kimberly, WI. He was born February, 11, 1933 in Freedom, WI, son of the late Peter J. and Elizabeth H. (nee Brooks) Van Den Eng. He married Kenice A. Munn on May 24, 1968 in Clovis, New Mexico. Gene served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, he went in April 13 1951 at the age of 18, was a Korean War Vet May 53-May 54 and a Vietnam War Vet Dec 69-Dec 1970. He had two tours in Europe, France and England. Gene was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California for seven years where he was in Missiles. He played golf for the USAF and won several trophies. Gene retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air Force in February 1972, and with his wife Kenice and three year old son, Peter, he moved to Port Charlotte, Fl. There he embarked on a new career in real estate and in 1980 opened Van Den Eng Realty, Inc., which is still in existence. Gene's love was construction and building spec houses and real estate investing

Marvin Van Den Eng, 81, of Freedom, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at home with his family by his side. He was born on February 8, 1935, son of Peter and Elizabeth (Brooks) Van Den Eng.
Marv married Roberta Jacob on March 14, 1970. She brought her five children with her to join the family with his son from a previous marriage to Marlene Weyenberg. On December 24, 1971, Marv and Roberta had a son to make the family complete.
Marv retired from the Atlas Mill in Appleton at the age of 55. He then dedicated his like to the one thing he truly loved…auctions. He started Van Den Eng and Sons Scrap Iron, which helped him support his seven children and his wife's love of rummage sales. Marv loved auctions and loved all the people he met there, he considered them a large auction family. One of his favorite auctions was the Amish auction in Neillsville.
On Sundays he enjoyed going to the Appleton Apostolic Truth Church where he was a greeter and usher. He was known to everyone at church as the "Candy Man." Marv always had tootsie rolls in his pockets for all the kids. He also helped with the food pantry. Everyone at church knew if they needed help, just call Marv.
His special love was his grandchildren, whom he loved to have sit on his lap and of course, give candy.
Marv is survived by his children: Debbie (Royal) Meetz, Mary (Larry) Daul, Bill (Sue) Van Den Eng, Roger (Brenda) Van Den Eng, Kathy (Butch) Hopfensperger, Bob (Susan) Jacob and James (Becky) Van Den Eng; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; his siblings: Joy (Roy) Van Dyke, Floyd (Joan) Van Den Eng, Clarence (Millie) Van Den Eng and Ronald (Jenny Rice) Van Den Eng; brothers and sisters-in-law: Kenitz Van Den Eng, Clarence "Whitey" Gerrits, Jerry (Pat) Reinke, Diane Hovey, Tom Reinke, Cheryl Ehle, Jim (Barb) Reinke, John (Barb) Reinke, Don Reinke, Mike Reinke, and Sheila Wilquet; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kaukauna - Brenda Jean (Brooks) Marquardt, 48, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 9, 2018 at ThedaCare Appleton, following a second bout with cancer. The daughter of Roger and Alice (Bowers) Brooks was born April 11, 1970 in Green Bay.
Brenda was the middle of three children and attended St. Francis Hollandtown Grade School. She graduated from Kaukauna High School and went on to receive her degree from the University of Milwaukee.
On September 16, 1995, Brenda married Matt Marquardt at St. Francis Church in Hollandtown. They raised three children, and the family enjoyed traveling, camping and attending sporting events together.
Brenda was a born leader and entrepreneur, and found purpose in giving back to others. She owned Marq-It Design and Brenda Marquardt Social Marketing and Design. Additionally, she was a director and consultant for BNI, a member of the GK Inner Circle for out-of-the-box thinkers and marketers, and a mentor for Score Mentors - Fox Cities.
She was the Athletic Director and Social Media Director for St. John - Sacred Heart in Sherwood, active in the Heart of the Valley Chamber of Commerce, the PPAW, the Harrison Athletic Association Board, and volunteered for a number of charities. In everything she did, Brenda persevered with faith, hope, love and gratitude.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Matt; parents, Roger and Alice; children, Nicholas, Koy and Ella; siblings Mark (Kris) Brooks and Connie (Kevin) Brick; siblings-in-law, Billie (Richard) Upton, Pete Marquardt, Paul (Alina) Marquardt, Andy Marquardt and Ann Marquardt-Schumacher. She is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, as well as other members of her extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Larry and Hannah (DuCharme) Marquardt, her four grandparents, her brother-in-law Steve Schumacher, as well as aunts, uncles and other extended family members.

Obituary:
George Michael Brooks was born on June 15, 1961, in Oakland and died a tragic and untimely death on Feb. 13, 2012, in Castro Valley. A loving and devoted father, husband, son, brother, uncle, mason, coach, neighbor and friend, George lived a full and extraordinary life. He was an amazing gift to all those who knew him, making everyone feel that he was their best friend with his wonderful smile and kind heart. He will be remembered above all for his devotion to his family.
Living in Concord for his first 31 years, George played baseball, basketball and football while attending Mt. Diablo High School. He also attended Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill. He married the love of his life, Lisa Coleman, July 25, 1987. He has been a Fairfield resident for the last 19 years. George was an outstanding journeyman mason for more than 25 years. His favorite times were those he spent with his three sons, coaching Little League, basketball, soccer, camping, running, dirt biking and just being together.
George is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; sons, Baron, Thomas, and Eric; parents, Norbert and Ruth Brooks; brother, Peter; sisters, Barbara (Damon Helmantoler) and Carmen (Wayne Chang); father and mother in-law, Eugene and Bernie Coleman; brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Jeanene) Coleman, Daniel (Debra), David (Becki) Coleman; numerous nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles and cousins.
Aged 50 years.
A visitation will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Fairfield Funeral Home, 1750 Pennsylvania Ave., Fairfield. A service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Calvary Chapel Solano, 1180 Western St., Fairfield, followed by burial at Rockville Cemetery, 4219 Suisun Valley Road, Fairfield. A reception will be held after the burial services at the Calvary Chapel Solano in Fairfield.
