    After fifteen months in the armed forces two brothers, Corporal George J. Roovers, 21 and Corporal Thomas F. Roovers, 20, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Roovers of Maes Avenue, Kimberly, remain unseparated. Both were inducted February 2, 1943 at Fort Sheridan, Ill. The brothers were in basic training together, then by some stroke of fate were assigned to the same B-24 Liberator Bomber Squadron with an overseas destination. Now overseas the brothers, working in close collaboration daily, perform the duties of fusing and loading bombs.

    Obituary:
    George J. Roovers, age 82, of Kaukauna, died unexpectedly Wednesday mornin g, Feb. 23, 2005. He was born Sept. 2, 1922, to the late Frank and Jaco ba (Van Beek) Roovers, in Kimberly, where he was a resident, until movi ng to Kaukauna in 1963. George served with the U. S. Army Air Corps, duri ng World War II, with the 456 Bomb Group in Italy. He married Lillian Elsw orth, May 12, 1951; she preceded him in death Sept. 28, 2001. George had b een employed by Kimberly Clark Corporation, at the Kimberly Mill, for 41 y ears, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed all Wisconsin sports teams especially t he Packers and fishing. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and t he American Legion.He is survived by four daughters, Pamela (Jim) Garvey, Freedom; Debra Onke ls, St. Francis, Wis.; Linda (Terry) Wright, Darboy; Amy (Wayne) Koehle r, New London; eight grandchildren, Jason (Tonya) Garvey, Matt Garvey, Ka rl Onkels, Kassy Onkels, Chad Wright and his special friend, Abby, Melis sa Wright and her fiance, Jeff, Marcus Koehler and Weston Koehler; three g reat grandchildren, Kobe, Jadyn and Emma Garvey. He is further surviv ed by two sisters, Ann Baumann, Kimberly; Martha (Clarence) Hackel, Seymou r; four brothers, Tom (Doris) Roovers, Kimberly; Joe Roovers, Appleton; Fr ank Roovers and his special friend, Shirley, Little Chute; Marty (Phylli s) Roovers, Combined Locks.He was preceded in death by his son Mike J. Roovers, in 1988, three brothe rs and four sisters.The funeral ceremony for George will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 2 6, 2005, at the funeral home, with Father Bob Udulutsch officiating. Buri al will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Kaukauna. Friends may call at the funer al home from 9 a.m., Saturday, until the time of the service. A memorial f und is being established.
