Obituary:
Donald "Dob" H. Brueggeman, 63, of Sparta, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital, Orlando, FL. He grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School in 1968.
He served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for ITT communication and in 1973 for Omer's Standard Service Station as a mechanic.
Don met Jane Schwarz in August of 1973. They married on December 1, 1973, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sparta. They lived in Sparta until 1977 and moved to Appleton, where he worked at Bassett Mechanical until 2007. They moved back to Sparta and he worked at the Wal Mart Distribution Center and then LBR Contractor at Fort McCoy, retiring in 2009.
Dob enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, Monday morning golf, and NASCAR.
Don is survived by his wife, Jane Brueggeman of Sparta; children, Chad (Jennifer) Brueggeman of West Salem, Chris (Jodi) Brueggeman of West Salem, and Christina (Dave) Vawter of Appleton, WI; grandchildren, Zach, Emily, Nick, Abby, Jacquie, Jessica, Brad, Aaron, and Evelyn; his mother, Irene Brueggeman of Sparta; brother, Roger (Sue) Brueggeman of Sparta; sister, Myrna Kasten of Sparta; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Brueggeman; brother-in-law, Ray Kasten, brother-in-law, Jerry Massey; and nephew, Zach Schwarz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father John S. Manohar officiating. Burial will be at a later date at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a 7:45 p.m. prayer service at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, and on Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to SACS. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
