ONEIDA MAN INSANE, TWO DOCTORS SAY Coroner's Jury Finds Dead Man Was Murdered by His Employer. Complaint charging Steve Gaunt, 37 years old, town of Oneida farmer, with murder in the first degree was prepared Tuesday by District Attorney John A. Lonsdorf after a coroner's jury recommended that Gaunt be held for the murder of William School, 57, a farm hand who had been working for Gaunt, on Sunday. After deliberations of less than half an hour the jury brought in a verdict in which it was found that Mr. School came to his death at the hands of his employer after his skull had been crushed in by some blunt instrument or weapon. It is believed that an axe was used. Members of the jury were Charles Fose, George Walsh, Peter Stark, J. J. Hauert, C. A. Hipp and Oscar Kunitz. Immediately upon being informed of the alleged murder Monday morning the district attorney ordered an in inquiry into the weird death. The jury was called at 10 o'clock by Sheriff Peter G. Schwartz and a trip made to the scene of the alleged atrocity; from there the group was taken to an undertaker's establishment in Little Chute to view the body ,of the slain man. CALL WITNESSES At noon the inquest was Adjourned to 2 o'clock when sessions were resumed in the circuit court room at the courthouse. Witnesses called consisted principally of Gaunt's two brothers, the sheriff and Deputy Jay Bushey, and a neighbor who declared that both men were seen alive early Sunday morning. The crime is supposed to have been committed during the morning hours. The mental condition of the alleged murderer is apparently so unsettled that It was thought useless to even call him at the inquest. Since his incarceration in the county Jail Gaunt is reported to have said nothing of consequence concerning the case. THINKS HE IS DIVINE According to two physicians who have interviewed Gaunt, the prisoner Is insane. He suffers delusions of grandeur, a not uncommon form of neurosis wherein he imagines himself omnipotent, it is reported. One of the delusions he is said to have explained to physicians is that at the time of the slaying he believed himself to be divine and specially ordained to stamp out School's life in the hallucination that his victim was the devil in human form. "Gaunt is not shamming, he Is not the type of man who at his best would have the type of intelligence necessary to hoodwink justice," Mr. Lonsdorf declared. The punishment, if Gaunt Is found guilty of murder or adjudged insane, amounts to the same in essence. In the* latter event were he to at any time in life regain command of his faculties he would still be under indictment and subject to prosecution on the homicide charge, it was pointed out. Coroner Herbert E. Elsworth presided at the Inquest. Preliminary examination will' be held before Judge Theodore Berg in municipal court. A still,80 gallons of moonshine and a quantity of alleged wine found on Gaunt's premises were destroyed by Sheriff Schwartz. No suspicion had been directed against the place as a manufactory of alcoholic beverage and it was only through the murder that the double purpose of the farm home was brought to light. Monday it was thought that a quarrel over disposition of the profits of the still or perhaps a drunken orgy had led up to fight .in which one of the participants lost his life but this theory was abandoned by the authorities after the investigation. That Gaunt was losing his mind be- came known Saturday when two brothers from Green Bay visited him and later told the authorities here of their suspicion that their brother is mentally unbalanced. They however, had no idea that his mania had reached the point where he might be a menace to human life. Relatives claimed the body of Mr. School. It was released to them by the coroner after the inquest.

Age 79, passed away at 1 a m Monday after a short illness. He was born October 12, 1887 in Freedom. He operated a farm at Rt.2 Kaukauna for 40 years, moving to Kimberly 18 years ago. Mr. School is survived by his wife: one daughter mrs. Al Landers, DePere, Wis; four sons; Clayton,Freedom; Chester Rt.2 Kaukauna; Robert, Appletoon; Joseph, Darboy; 8 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 am at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly. Burial will be in St. Nicolas Cemetery, Freedom. Friends may call at the Jansen Funeral Home, Kimberly after 2 pm Tuesday. Rosary will be
prayed at 8 pm at the funeral home.

Anna was the daughter of John School who married Henrietta Keizer Hagen s. Both John and Henrietta had been married earlier. There seems to be two sons named Anton, one with wife #1 (Johanna ?), the child died young and the second Anton with wife #2 (Hattie Keizer/s) who was brother to my grandma, Anna. There's a whole lot going on there -- Hattie and Johanna are buried next to each other and listed as wife of John -- he's nowhe re to be found.
Maybe he found a wife #3 and is buried with her somewhere .

Bev McDougal thinks my John School is a son of Martin School and his wife Allegonda Debeijers. Martin had more than one son named John and I'm confused. It will probably take another trip to Wisconsin and some time sp ent in the Diocesan Office in Green Bay.
If you have any light to shed on my Gerrits and Schools I would be delighted! Also the Vanderloops but they are a little more under control.

Gladys L. "Granny" Meis, Appleton, age 96, passed away at Appleton Health Care Center on Saturday, June 5, 2010. Granny, as she was called by most, was born in Freedom on January 10, 1914, to the late Joe and Petronella (School) Houle. On November 20, 1934, she was united in marriage to Frank Meis at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton. They had 2 children together, a daughter Charlene and a son William "Bill." Frank preceded her in death in 1952. Gladys went on to marry Joe Meis on August 31, 1954, in Greeley, CO. Joe passed away in 1982.
Granny lived in Greeley and Kersey, Colorado, from 1954 to 1980 when she returned to Appleton. While in Colorado, Granny took great care in helping to care for 2 of her grandchildren, Vicki Jo and Frank. Granny was the only person known to fall up a ladder. She enjoyed playing the organ, was not one to pass up a good game of cards, and read dozens of "pre-read" books sent to her from Vicki. It was a condition of accepting the books that Vicki read them first. Granny would quiz Vicki on them to be sure she had indeed read the books.
Once back in Wisconsin, she was able to spend time with her other two grandkids, Lorie and Debbie. Granny enjoyed fishing, and on one fishing trip with Debbie, fell into a hole on the walk down to the river. Debbie and Granny laughed so hard it was difficult to get her up on her feet.
Lorie and Granny shared a love for critters. Granny would feed the birds, squirrels and strays that came to her apartment. Lorie would often bring Sheeba, a Pit Bull mix, to Appleton Health Care Center on her visits. Granny would rummage through her things to find a "treat" for her.
Granny loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and she was diligent in praying her Rosary. Her belief and faith in the Catholic Church could not go unnoticed.
Gladys is survived by her daughter-in-law, Karen (Bill) Meis and dearest friend, Butch; son-in-law, Leonard (Charlene) Seidl; two stepsons: John and Gerald; stepdaughters in law, Ellen (Linus) Mese, Fern (Ken Meis) Ross, and Jenny Meis; grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Vicki Jo (Ken) Highfield and their sons Kenny and Zachary, Frank (Julie) Meis and their sons Derrick and Brandon, Debbie (Kevin) Marg, Lorie (Loren) Madden and their kids Nikki (James) Ryberg and their daughters McKenna and Kailyn, Jenna Madden and her good friend Jeff, Jason, Keith and his good friend Brittnie. Stepgrandchildren: Barb (Jim) Reinke, Dennis (Karen) Seidl and Ken (Jean) Seidl. Ten stepgreat-grandchildren and many stepgreat-great-grandchildren; Dorothy "Dot" Meis; two nieces: twins June (Karl) Pasch and Jane. She also leaves behind her dearest and most trusted friend Judy Danzinger and her roommate at Appleton health Care Center Mary Rusch.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, her children Charlene and Bill, her brothers and sister-in-law: Ira (Velda) Houle and Ervin Houle; stepkids from husband Frank: Ken, Alvin, Alfred, Linus and Irene; stepkids from husband Joe: Ann Stroh, Eleanor Darling, Katherine Krois and Betty Conduay; and pet bird Trixie.
The life of Gladys blended several families from Colorado and Wisconsin together. If anyone was overlooked, it is with sincere apologies and by no means intentional.
A celebration of Gladys' life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, with Father Larry Abler officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. As per Gladys' wishes, the Rosary will be prayed. Interment will take place at St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery, Freedom.
Going through the notes of wishes for Granny's funeral was a side note written by her late daughter, Charlene: "You were a great Mother."
Gladys appreciated and was thankful for her care givers at Appleton Health Care Center.

Iline Margaret School Arts, Little Chute, age 91, died peacefully surrounded by her family, the evening of November 30, 2008, at the home of her daughter, Nancy, where she had resided the last two years. She went to her Lord, holding the hand of her beloved sister, Alyce, with whom she shared a special bond. Iline was born to the late George and Minnie (Klaishuis) School in Freedom, WI, on August 7, 1917; she was the fifth of nine children. She married James H. Arts on June 24, 1941, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute. He preceded her in death April 2, 1997, after sharing 55 years of marriage. Iline lived and worked in Neenah/Menasha and Chicago in her younger years, but spent her married life residing in Little Chute. She enjoyed travel to many parts of the U.S. and Mexico, however all by car or train of course, as she would not fly! She was an excellent seamstress, sewing many items of clothing for her daughters, granddaughters, family and friends. She loved to cook and bake, being especially known for her apple pies and chocolate chip cookies. She enjoyed a good game of sheepshead, Liverpool rummy, cribbage and the "occasional" jaunt to the casino. She also enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Door County with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Iline liked to play golf and she and Jim were members of Fox Valley Golf Course for many years. She also enjoyed bowling in a couples league with Jim, and a Tuesday morning ladies league at Village Lanes once Jim became ill. One of Iline's special life events was a surprise 90th birthday party organized by her daughters, and was a true celebration of her life and friendships. Iline was an active member of her church community at St. John and shared a deep faith in her Lord, which sustained her as she struggled with her declining health and lack of mobility in recent months. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Society and the Third Order of St. Francis.
Iline is survived by her three daughters: Nancy Lee Arts, Little Chute; Cynthia (Mark B.) (Arts) Nelezen, Oshkosh; and Judy (John P.) (Kerrigan) Vanden Bosch, Seymour; a sister, Alyce Kons, Kaukauna; a sister-in-law, Beverly School ; and Delores Murphy, a special friend and step-sister. She influenced the lives of her six grandchildren: Abigail Iline Nelezen, Oshkosh; Karen (Ben) Muenster, Seymour; Vicki Vanden Bosch, Green Bay; Amy (David) Renon, Greenleaf; Todd (Lynn) Vanden Bosch, Freedom; eight great grandchildren: Chelsey, Brittney, Dustin and Dylan Muenster; Kaitlyn and Jennifer Renon; Zachery and Kyle Vanden Bosch. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and god children, whom she cared for deeply.
Iline was preceeded in death by her parents; seven of her siblings and their spouses: Bernice (Anton) Meulemans, Loretta (William) Gerrits, Marie (Herbert) Anderson, Alois (Irene), Melvin, and Richard (Carol) School, and infant brother Billy; brother-in-law, Raymond Kons; sister-in-law, Sister Helen Arts, O.P.; and a grandson, Paul Vanden Bosch.
Iline was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; family was the most important thing in her life, and this was very evident Thanksgiving weekend as family and friends gathered together to share a last moment with her. The house was full of laughter, remembrances, cherished photos shared, story telling and of course food for the visitors, who came to lend support and prayer.
Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2008, at St. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St., Little Chute) until the time of the Funeral Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev. James Hablewitz will officiate with Deacon Vincent De Groot concelebrating. In keeping with Iline's wishes, in lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her memory for parochial education, which she actively supported.

Alyce Kons, 87, Little Chute, died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Renaissance Assisted Living. She was born in Freedom on June 7, 1922, to the late George and Minnie School. Alyce married Raymond Kons on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, 1942, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. He preceded her in death on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2005, two days short of their 63rd wedding anniversary. Alyce served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army (WAC) as a surgical technician during World War II. Her name is inscribed on the "Women in the Military" monument located in Washington, D.C. She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Parish, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258. Alyce lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Doreen and Marshall Knutson, for 4 years prior to moving to Renaissance in February. She enjoyed fishing, camping, going to cottages, ice cream, playing Liverpool Rummy and the occasional trip to the casino. Alyce especially loved children, spending time with family, all animals, and her little dog Wanda. Alyce loved everyone and everyone loved her.

Chester J. School, 84, Freedom, died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday morning, July 2, 2008, at his home. Chester was born November 9, 1923, in the Town of Oneida, a son of the late Jacob and Mary (Randerson) School. On June 30, 1945, Chester married the former Gladys Baril. Chet dairy farmed all his life. He was born on the farm, raised his children on the farm, and died on the farm. He loved the land and could not wait to get out on it. His greatest joy was being with his family. He especially liked when they all came up to his trailer at Silver Cliff.
He is survived by his wife Gladys; his children: Gloria (Tom) Farrell, St. Charles, IL; David School, Kaukauna; Gary School, Appleton; and Robin (Ollie) Toms, Appleton; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Chet is further survived by his two sisters-in-law: Millie School and June Lemorand.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister-in-law: Robert School and Clayton (Agnes) School; and one sister, Elaine (Al) Linders.
Visitation for Chet will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2008, from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, County Road E, Freedom. Ellie Oppelt, age 91, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2009, at Valley VNA in Neenah. Ellie was born in Loyal, Wisconsin, on June 25, 1917, daughter of the late Tony and Hattie (Brochtrup) School. She attended school at St. Francis in Hollandtown and graduated from the 10th grade in 1931. In 1933, she graduated from Kaukauna High School. Ellie married Raymond Micke in May of 1938, and later married John Oppelt in June of 1992. In addition to raising and caring for her family, Ellie worked as a waitress at several area supper clubs.
She is survived by two sons: Roger (Eunice) Micke, Kaukauna; Douglas (Anna Mae) Micke, Lakewood; a daughter, Donna (Jim McCash) of Iron Mountain, Michigan; eight grandchildren: Sharon (Greg) Duerr, Stephen Micke, Wendy (Kevin) Verkuilen, Doug Micke, Dennis Micke and his special friend Vicky, Debbie Kutzleb, Duane Micke, and Jill Spencer. There are also fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers: Louis (Arlene) School, Kaukauna; Robert (Elaine) School, Appleton; a sister: Rita VandeHey, Wrightstown; and a sister-in-law, Marie School, Appleton.
Ellie was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Raymond Micke, her husband John Oppelt in 2005, her son Nicholas Micke in 1971, grandsons Danny Micke and Jon Campain, brothers Howard (Evelyn) School, Paul (Gladys) School, and Art School; a sister, Florence (Stan) Budzinski; a sister-in-law, Ardy School, and brothers-in-law, Roy Potter and Roly VandeHey.
The funeral liturgy for Ellie will be held on Monday, February 23, 2009, at 11 a.m. at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH (St. Francis, Hollandtown site) with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Louis P. School, age 89, of Brillion, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at his residence and is now at peace with the Lord and his wife Ardyth.
Louis was born on May 19, 1923 in Hollandtown, son of the late Anton and Henrietta (Brochtrup) School. On September 14, 1944, he married Ardyth Reichel. She preceded him in death on October 6, 1997.
During his professional life, Louis worked numerous hours as a dairy farmer. He also worked in sales at Keller Structures from 1964 - 1987. Upon retirement, Louis and Ardy spent many years camping at Tilleda Falls with family and friends. He was a competitive card player, especially sheepshead. Louis celebrated his 89th birthday this past Saturday with his family and friends. Above all, Louis enjoyed being with friends and his very loving family. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Louis is survived by his children and their spouses: Daniel (Joyce), Richard (Donna) all of Brillion, Kathy (Tom) Deffke of Shorewood, Mary (Tim) Jansen of Sussex, Ellen (Randy) Winkler of Madison, Karen (Dennis) Asbel of Green Bay, John (Heidi) of Brillion, Alice (Jim) Thayer of Appleton, Peter of Milwaukee, and Tony (Shelley) of Milwaukee; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one sister: Mary Rita VandeHey; one brother and four sisters-in-law: Robert (Elaine) School, Marie School, Elaine Juno, Marion (Russ) DeLaHunt; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mary Rita Vande Hey, Wrightstown, age 87, died Tuesday May 29, 2012 at Parkside Care Center. She was born on May 7, 1925 in Hollandtown to the late Antone and Hattie (Buchtrop) School. Mary Rita married Roland Vande Hey on September 26, 1944 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown. He preceded her in death February 10, 2008. Mary Rita was a past member of the St. Paul Christian Mothers. She sold Avon and helped on family farms for many years. Mary Rita enjoyed playing cards and especially loved playing cribbage for quarters. She liked gardening and tending to her flowers.
Mary Rita is survived by her children: Gene (Sandy), Wrightstown; Dennis, Greenleaf; Gary (special friend Laurie), Madison; Allan (special friend Terry), De Pere; Ron, Wrightstown; extended family Al and Susan Christensen, Wrightstown; 10 grandchildren: Gina (John) Thousand, Karla (Ed) Meyers, John (Rebecca) Christensen, Sarah (David) Groat, Ed (Trisha), Mike (friend Jamie), Tony (Krista), Tosha, Shelly and Eric Vande Hey; 17 great-grandchildren; brother: Bob (Elaine) School; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Marie School, Mary Ellen Sprangers, Orville, Virgil (Sandy), Gerald and Beverly Vande Hey. Appleton - Robert Bernard School, age 88, passed away peacefully at Cherry Meadows with his family at his side on July 28, 2018. "Bob" was born on August 21, 1929 in Dundas, WI, the son of the late Anton and Henrietta "Hattie" (Brochtrup) School. He graduated from St. John's Catholic High School in Little Chute and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955, serving with the 36th Fighter Bomber Wing stationed at bases in Furstenfeldbruck and Bitburg Germany as well as MacDill Air Force Base in Florida. He married Elaine Brittnacher on August 12, 1954 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Wrightstown, WI.
Bob drove truck for White Clover Dairy in Hollandtown, WI from 1946 - 1961. He then went on to drive truck for Badger Northland, Inc. in Kaukauna and was shortly thereafter promoted to a sales position where his dedication and hard work resulted in a successful career as an Export Sales Manager. Bob's position with Badger Northland, Inc took him on travels across the United States, Canada, Japan and Bulgaria until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Appleton since 1969, the Knights of Columbus and Kimberly Post 60 of The American Legion. He retained friendships and attended reunions with fellow Air Force buddies through-out his life. Bob's carpentry skills and enthusiasm for woodworking were put to good use when he, along with his sons, built homes, including the home where he and Elaine eventually retired. Countless hours were spent in his woodworking shop crafting special projects for Christmas gifts. Growing up on a farm and a career in farm equipment sales led to Bob's retirement hobby collecting and trading scale model farm toys and tractors. Bob and Elaine worked Toy Shows together and the people they met along the way always gave Bob great pleasure. He also enjoyed his morning coffee hour with friends at The Heritage where they "solved the world's problems". Above all else Bob loved a day of fishing on his boat and those days were never better than when shared with the grandkids.
Along with his loving and devoted wife of almost 64 years, Elaine School, Bob is also survived by 9 children: Bonnie (Patrick) Costello, Terry (Deonne) School, Colorado Springs, CO, Steve (Peggy) School, Patty School, Vicky (Roger) Mendez, Patterson, NY, Amy (James) Berge, Cindy (Michael) Purdo, Roswell, GA, Rick (Fern) School and Randy (Jacqueline) School; his 15 grand children Megan (Anthony) Gostanian, Brent (Allison) Costello, Kathryn (Scott) Lopez, Joshua (Leann) School, Robert N. (Gina) School, Brittany, Mackenzie, and Erin Mendez; Luke, Rachel, Matthew, Isaac, and Benjamin School and Elliot & Sophie School; 6 great grandchildren include Abbigaile, Hannah and Julianna School, RJ and Violet School and Eleanor Costello. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews who cherish family ties and visited often.
Bob was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Howard (Evelyn) School, Paul (Gladys) School, Louis (Ardyth) School and Art (Marie) School; sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence (Roy) Potter, Eleanor (Raymond) Micke, Mary Rita (Roland) VandeHey.
The Funeral Liturgy for Bob will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 Lourdes Dr., at 11:30 AM on Saturday, August 4th, 2018. Visitation will be at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St, Appleton, WI from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, August 3rd, with an American Legion Prayer Service at 7:00 PM followed by a Rosary Service. Friends may also visit at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service. Inurnment will take place at St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Cemetery, Hollandtown, WI at a later date.

Art School, age 77, of Appleton, passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Cherry Meadows on February 5, 2009. Art was born on July 10, 1931, in the Town of Woodville, the son of the late Anton and Henrietta (Brochtrup) School. He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1949. Art proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He married Marie Buss on July 28, 1951, in Appleton. Art was employed with the Wisconsin State Patrol for 29 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1986. In the late 1950s Art became one of the first Motorcycle State Troopers in Wisconsin. He was a past president of the Wisconsin Chapter of the F.B.I. National Academy and life member of the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Officers Association. Art was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton. He enjoyed woodworking, motorcycling, hunting and golfing.
Art is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie School, Appleton; his son, Tom (Mary - Art's favorite daughter-in-law) School; his daughters: Debbie Sellers, Freedom, New Hampshire; Wendy (Michael) Salisbury, Appleton; his grandchildren: Stacy (S. The Funeral Liturgy for Art will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2009, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 S. State Street, Appleton, with Fr. Michael K. O'Rourke officiating. The visitation will be at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name. She was born at Verboort on Mar ch 7, 1884, the daughter of Peter and Antonia Vandehey Evers, and had spent her entire life in Washington County. H er husband, William August Van Dyke, preceded her in death on March 15, 1942 here in Forest Grove. They were marri ed at Verboort on May 5, 1908. Requiem high mass will be offered by Very Rev. William R. Killi on at Visitation Catholic Church at Verboort on Friday at 10 a.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Thursday eveni ng at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Prickett's mortuary of Forest Grove and will be said by Very Rev. Van Hoof, Catherine W. Catherine died at her home, surrounded by her family, in Hollandtown where she had lived with her husband, Joseph, for 54 years. Joe preceded her in death on July 11, 2008. She was born on a farm near Forest Junction to the late Anthony and Mary (McDonnell) School. A graduate of Brillion High School, she began her studies at Longfellow School. In 1940, the family moved to Brillion. Catherine worked in photographic studios before her marriage and later in the lab at White Clover Dairy. She was a good bowler and golfer, and she had a great sense of humor. She was a member of St. Francis Parish. She will be fondly remembered for her 4H speech instruction for many members of the community.
She is survived by her five children: Dennis (Jean) Van Hoof, Sheboygan; Mary Borree, Pt. Pleasant, New Jersey; Jim Van Hoof, Hollandtown; Sue (Dan) Voet, Kaukauna; Joanie Van Hoof, Menasha; seven grandchildren: Mike and Katie Van Hoof, Max Borree, Hannah and Joey Van Hoof and Jack and Mary Voet. She is further survived by her sister, Grace School, Appleton; sisters-in-law: Delores School, Green Bay; Ann DeCoster, Little Chute, Lillian (Tony) Van Wychen, Marian Ragen, Liz Van Hoof and a brother-in-law, Donald Van Hoof, all of Kaukauna, many nieces and nephews and many friends, a special friend and caregiver, Ellen Scheibe, De Pere, and Elsie and Bill Harrison of Wolverhampton, England.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, two brothers: Jerome and Gordon School and a nephew, Douglas School; brothers-in-law: Norbert Van Hoof, Larry DeCoster and Ronald "Red" Ragen; and a nephew: Pat Ragen; a sister-in-law, Marge School; and an aunt, Kit McDonnell.
The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, at St. Katharine Drexel, St. Francis site, 433 County Trunk CE, Hollandtown. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. on Thursday until the time of mass at the church. She will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery. A memorial fund is being established in her name.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to all the hard working ThedaCare At Home Hospice staff for enabling to keep Mom at home, and a special thank you to Dr. Bruce Danz and his nurse, Sue, for all their compassionate care.
