  Gladys Marie Rieden, 86, Mount Calvary, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary. She was born June 3, 1921, in Mount Calvary a daughter of the late Albert and Della (Steffes) Koenen. Gladys attended Holy Cross Grade School and had worked at Well's Mfg. in Fond du Lac before her marriage. On July 8, 1950, she married Harold Rieden at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary. The couple farmed and lived in the St. Peter area before moving to Mount Calvary in 1984. Her husband, Harold preceded her in death on April 7, 1991. Gladys was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary and the Christian Mother's Society. She volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Bank and the Holy Cross Quilters. She enjoyed crafts and word puzzles. Survivors include her daughter, Carol (George) Gutierrez, Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jennifer (Dan) Carey, Austin, Texas; three step-grandchildren, George (Allison), Gina and Gary; one great-grandchild, Austin; three step great-grandchildren, Laureen, Victoria and Grayson; her brother, Herbert (Gladys) Koenen, Stockbridge; a brother-in-law, David Rieden, Harlingen, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Koenen, Shorewood; and Irene Koenen, Portland, Ore. and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; two brothers, Eugene and Kenneth Koenen; two sisters-in-law, Rosella Koenen and Marion Suprenand and two brothers-in-law, Ben Koenen and Harold Prasser. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Holy Cross Catholic Church 308 County Road W Mount Calvary. the Rev. Nicholas Widhammer OFM Cap. will officiate. Inurnment will be in the St. Peter Cemetery in St. Peter. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to the St. Agnes Hospice Hope. The Sippel Funeral Home in St. Cloud (920) 999-2291 is assisting the family.
